what was benton doing on the blackmon td?

watching the replay, it seems he could have absolutely destroyed JB on the play. instead, he takes a pursuit angle that would have gotten him at tackle at the one yard line at best (but likely would have been a TD anyway). great catch and run by blackmon, but that was some terrible play by benton.

I never saw the route he took. It looked like he was just giving support over the top assuming that Weedon wouldn't throw into double coverage. Because that was an ill-advised throw.

Blackmon made such a great play on that ball. LJ had him covered and any less of a receiver wouldn't have been able to make that catch. He turned his body in mid-air and rotated it back to make a cut. That kid is going to be great in the NFL one day.

Yeah, just a great play by a great player. Not sure if Benton had outside coverage, and LG inside, and LJ got pushed out. No idea, but just hard to stop a pass like that against a great receiver.

Yep, that was just an amazing throw by Weeden and catch by Blackmon. Blackmon is an absolute freak of nature - for a guy of his size he just always looks so smooth and agile and under control. LJ did a pretty great job all night but with the ball put in the right place it's pretty much impossible to stop him.

That is the statement of the game against ISU's D. There were 3 or 4 passes that converted 15+ yard 3rd downs that were just perfect throws. Defense played great, but there's no defense for a perfect pass.
