New Tradition? - Gold towels
The gold towels last night were great! Made the atmosphere even more electric! It got me thinking what if we did that for every game. The Steelers do this at their games and it has become one of the most well know traditions in all of football. So why can't we do this? Just have fans bring their All In towels with them to all the games so it eliminates the cost for new towels.
We can have this at every game! -

While that would be awesome, I would rather ISU save that $$$ and use it on the SEZ. Perhaps once a year on a big game, but not every game.

The atmosphere last night was the best at Jack Trice I have ever experienced. I would love to take my towel to every game.

Yeah I agree that we need to save that money, that's why I suggested they have fans bring the towels they got today to the games next year. They can also put up booths where you can buy a towel for a couple bucks, which, if the tradition got going, would make the school money.

The fans were amazing! From where we sat to see those gold towels shaking all over the place was more excitement at a game in a very long time! I hope the players had a chance to catch a glimpse of the view from the field....know they were busy, but we want them to know we support them and all the coaches!
"This is who I am . . . this is what you're gonna get!" -

Either you bring your old one or can buy them cheap at local retailers.

The problem is fan cooperation. This is the fan base that starts whining when they're told to wear cardinal or gold to one particular game - "they're not my parents - I'm going to wear whatever I want" is the usual response. Especially on Cardinal Rules, where every Cyclone fan should have a cardinal colored shirt in their closet/dresser/floor/etc. They'll wear grey or white or another off color just to be an individual.
With this type of attitude do you think a majority of fans are willing to spend $5 to buy a gold towel, or remember to bring one with them? I wish I had that kind of faith in our fan base, but I just don't.

If enough people start bringing their old towels to games, it will start to catch on.

Re: New Tradition? - Gold towels
It wouldn't cost Iowa State a lot of money. In Steelers country, the "Terrible Towel" is sold at all sorts of sporting goods stores, heck, even gas stations carry them . They typically cost $5-10 or so. Better yet, all the proceeds (after manufacturing costs) go to charity.
I think that Iowa State fans would be willing to buy some gold and cardinal "All In" towels, especially if the "profit" went to a good Iowa charity. I know I would, and I'd be there every game possible twirling it like a madman.
