Andy,
Below is an email that I sent to Soundoff last Saturday:
Murph and Andy,I have no idea if you bothered to read this email, but it sure seemed like you were talking to me (and others like me) when you went into your diatribe on Soundoff last night about "sore winner" Cyclone fans who can't just enjoy a Cyclone victory without complaining about something.
Did you see Marc Hansen's article about the ISU vs. OSU game shortly after it was posted on the Des Moines Register's website? Unbelievable! The Register has since scrambled to edit it, but here's how his article originally read (this is an exact quote, I'm not kidding):
"Cindy Story, dressed in a Cowboy orange jersey, mulled it over in the Jack Trice Stadium parking lot Friday before the Iowa State football team did its best to ruin Oklahoma State's national championship dreams before falling short 37-31 in two overtimes. It might have been the best game Iowa State ever lost."
Looks to me like Hansen must have 'mailed it in' as he obviously did not attend the game. Inexcusable. This is the same Marc Hansen who, a few weeks ago when the Cyclones were upsetting a ranked Texas Tech team and the Hawkeyes were losing to an awful Minnesota team, chose to spend his Saturday writing about the Nebraska Cornhusker game.
Is it any wonder why Cyclone fans continue to cancel their Des Moines Register subscriptions?
Tell me, Andy, is it too much to expect Marc Hansen and the Des Moines Register to get the outcome correct when reporting on the greatest ISU football victory of all time?
