Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
You think this board is bad check out HN after a loss.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
Welcome them, because ISU needs them.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
Who cares? My facebook was hilarious Friday night. All my friends who graduated with me from ISU who are never talking about the team were talking about them. We will eventually change that mentality.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
All Fans = $$$ for the AD.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
Oh i'm welcoming them, but i get sick of the ones who "knew all along"

Amen. These are the fans that are going to help take us to the next level. We need all the paying fans we can get. From more wins to things like the south endzone, getting more fans (and their money) onboard helps.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
Being a fan is not a competition.
There's no such thing as a "true" fan. Completely made up concept.
Iowa State needs all the fans they can get.
Bandwagon fans pay bigger coaches salaries.
Bandwagon fans finish the South Endzone Project.
Bandwagon fans might start off as Bandwagon fans, but can become "true fans"...(but only if they wish hard enough, and the Blue Fairy grants them favor)

Really? Your first post doesn't sound too welcoming toward them.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
We gained a lot of fans Friday night, which is an amazing thing. Sure, some of them aren't with us through thick and thin but maybe now they will be. I know my mom didn't go down with my dad because of the weather and he brought one of his friends down to his first game at JTS and I know he had a great time tailgating, and watching the game.
I wonder how many more donations we are going to receive because of this too?

I've been saying this for years. There is a reason we are perceived as little brother in the state. And it's because of the Tavern Hawk. The guy who never went to school there, but loves to root for an in state winner. It sucks that they all can't be die-hard, but we need the casual fan and lots of them to jump to the next level.
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
You do realize what seperates us from Iowa is all the fans that didn't actually go to the University. We need all of the fringe/bandwagon fans that we can get!
I was talking to a die hard Hawkeye fan who watched our game on Friday night and he just could not shut up about how exciting it was to watch. He kept asking if this is really how the Big 12 plays and then kept commenting on how much he loved Rhoads and although he loves his Hawks, he knows their game would be slow to watch the following day.
I think if we can keep some momentum going with wins, we will win over a lot of the State's fringe fans, especially in today's lack of attention span world, our style of play will help.

Appears they also need to get the seal of approval to be declared a true fan from ISUFB as well.
Reading this is almost making me believe the stereotype that even after a big win that ISU fans will find something to complain about.
Now lets all get back to telling people who can't make it to every game that they and their money aren't allowed to come back so we can save room for the true fans.:jimlad:
Re: Bandwagon Cyclone Fans
These are definitely the types of wins that kids growing up in our state remember, and turns them to be fans for years.

alright let me explain myself..
I am welcoming them but with a grain of salt. I guarantee you at the first adversity, they are back to being skeptical of everything regarding cyclone football.
