Larger by the hour? Not. That is a sad place to be. Do you enjoy living inthe past?

Put the offense out there and let them win it. Instead, he sent a punter out there to throw a pass in an absolutely wicked wind. Ugh, still ticks me off.

Only thing I might have done differently was send the offense out there to go for 2. We were hot. Line up the O, and get it done.
That said, the play was there. Nebraska never saw it coming. The biggest error was not putting JT as your starting holder on Day 1.

ISU is 5-0 in CLOSE GAMES this year. Let's be thankful for what we have instead of dwelling on what could have been.
GO CYCLONES. This is very true. There's almost always a close loss for every close win.
There's almost always a bad play or a mistake made for every good play. That's why the game is four quarters and 12 games in a season to get it settled.

And as ballsy as the call was in the game, it was equally ballsy to stand by your player during the press conference the next week. CPR gave a history of what the kid had done and said that he would call his number again the next week if necessary. CPR is just awesome. How do you learn how to say things like that? You don't learn it, you just do it because it is genuine. You wouldn't think it walking out of JTS. All I could hear was a bunch of Nebby fans screaming their "GO BIG RED" cheer, like they had just won the conference. The smart fans were quiet, but there were a lot more that were celebrating like it was a big win. Perhaps it was. I just reminded them that they squeaked by an unranked team, as a team that was supposedly going to win the conference.
Before that game, I had a younger fan (mid-20s) claim that Nebby would win that game by at least 40 points, straight faced. I would have loved to run into him after the game. The older fans knew that ISU was a threat, and they were lucky to get out alive. There's a big difference in NU fans between the older fans, which I will agree are probably some of the best fans in college football, and the younger fans, who are complete d-bags.

It hurts, it hurts bad, but I think this season's two overtime wins make up for it.

Don't care, we are back in a bowl game this year so I am not thinking about anything that happened last year. That loss does not hurt much anymore.

I don't think he's living in the past, (nor enjoys it) just making a comment about how 1 play can change or effect the future. That one gutsy call (which was the right call) but really didn't get executed very well, as per CPR. "If" it did, this thread wouldn't be taking place. But he's correct, the publications will always put us last until we prove we belong at the top. Sure, we'd have gone to a bowl game last year, we would've qualified. #5 or #6 out of the Big XII, (whatever) That one play (unexecuted) right now is what is keeping CPR's resume' from reading 3 straight bowl games in as many years as he's been our coach. Doesn't change too much in the long run... We all know we got the best coach in the country!
GO CYCLONES!!!

Could be that it ends-up saving us some money and needed time.

I disagree with the OP. I think beating OSU to get bowl eligible has completed washed away the Nebraska OT fake all together.
Had ISU not won last weekend, and continued to lose out this year, then it would have continued to loom larger than ever.
That ghost of Nebraska has been exercised.

When I think about all the fakes Rhoads has pulled off, the guys conversion rate is very good.
Fake punt on NU 09
Fake field goals(?) on UNI/TTU last year. One may have been a punt though
Onside kick vs Texas last year
Fake punt vs Mizzou
Onside vs OSU
Fake punt vs Kansas
The only 3 I can think of that didn't work were the fake pat vs Nebraska, and onsides vs Baylor and Iowa(09).
6 to 3 conversion ratio is pretty damn good. Can anyone think of another attempt?

I'm not so sure even a good throw gets completed there, looks like Haag was in a pretty good position to at least knock down any throw.

I still like the call. It hasn't bothered me at all.
Maybe some day we will get to play Nebraska in a bowl game and you will have redemption and easy nights sleeping.
