seniors
obviously in college every year you lose a group of guys that you have come to know on a number and name basis. you lose your senior leaders.
this year, we lose a LOT of leadership, and not just that, but our most talented group on seniors in a LONG time.
$-this board (myself included)has seemed to have a love/hate with this kid, but it's going to be tough to replace him. he has been a great red-zone target for us this year.
darks-surely seems replaceable, but he will likely end his career at #5 on the all time receptions list at isu
KO-do i even need to go into this loss? surely to be playing sundays
Hicks-possible late rounder, probably more likely to be a free agent signing, but none the less will get nfl looks
zimmerman-a position that can't be overlooked. will be interesting to see how we handle his replacement.
guyer/mahoney-guyers been steady and has experience. mahoney is GREAT on kickoffs. both will be missed NEXT year
LJ-playing on sunday, huge loss
Benton-maybe a free agent/late round guy, but a huge loss again, imo
Matt T-the overlooked LB. he is a huge part of our success this yr imo
jake latt/pat neal-who will beat either of their "motors" next year?
i'm enjoying the present, but we are losing a great core of our success this year that will be very difficult to just replace.
would love to hear thoughts on someone that's been to more games/practices than me as to who will step up at these positions next year.
edit-probably missing someone obvious, just a quick summation...

Re: seniors
and how could i forget dutch. he's another huge loss-literally

Re: seniors
The only loss I think we'll really feel next year is LJ. Losing Benton's leadership will hurt, but I think Jacques is going to be one of our best players next year (if he isn't already) and he seems like a leader.
KO and Hayworth will be missed. KO can dominate, but I feel like we'll be replacing him with more mobile linemen, which can help. Hayworth is very good, but I've heard good things about Shaban Dika.
Money is a very good player, but he's dissapeared in some games.
I don;t think any of the Dlineman have really been game changers and can be replaced.
Matt T will be tough to replace against running teams. He's probably one of the better run stuffing LBs I've seen at ISU.

Re: seniors
The kickers will not be missed at all. Mahoney on kickoffs can be replaced also.
LJ, KO are future NFL players where Hicks could be. They will be missed greatly. Not going to replace them for a long time.
Benton is not an NFL player. He will be missed for a short period, but I think Broomfield will be better at this point in the season next year, than Benton is now.
No one on the defensive line will be missed. They all can be replaced, and upgraded.

i think benton could get looks just because of his versatility. broomfield is very good you are right but benton is still a big loss. and if broomfield replaces him, who replaces broomfield then-mattison? morgan-(btw what the hell happened to him)?
we lose 3 starters on our d-line-none are irreplaceable, but that's going to sting as a collective group

Re: seniors
I won't miss LJ's mental lapses and lack of control of his emotions.

Re: seniors
ouch, well im a lot nicer than most on here i guess. I will and always miss all seniors that ive invested money and time in watching over the years, and most importantly dedicated themselves to the cyclone nation family...
so go kick butt the next couple weeks, and in the bowl game, and get the most out of your lost couple months.

Re: seniors
i agree, i personally am going to miss them all, as i do at the end of every season. i share a bond with them all-attending and for most of them graduating from isu. we are brothers in my book.

What senior thinks it is a good idea to headbutt an opponent after having stopped them on a 3rd and 18? Then he gets flagged again against Kansas. He's still make stupid decisions he was making as a freshman (see UNLV game.) He clearly hasn't learned much in 4 years.
LJ is a great athlete, but him not being able to keep his emotions in check has become beyond frustrating.

LJ more than makes up for his mistakes.
