Next step in recruiting
With all the hype around ISU football, do we or have we had any interest from any 4 and 5 star recruits? I have to think that some are starting to realize what CPR is doing with 2 and 3 star recruits and might start considering Iowa State.

Honestly, I'm happy with the 3 stars. The others tend to have alot of baggage often. If we had a class of all 3 stars every year, I'd be thrilled.

I wouldn't imagine that it'll make a big difference this season. Depending on how we finish out this season, it pay off pretty big next year.

Re: Next step in recruiting
I hate to say it but it is going to take more than 1 big win a year to get those kids. There aren't many schools that pull in 4-5 star recruits. Start finishing higher in the b12 and you may get a few of those kids (not saying it can't happen now but it won't be multiple kids). But Iowa schools are never going to draw too many 4-5 star recruits anyway. Most of those kids are coming from out of state and are staying in those states.

ISU needs to clean up in state (this year is a good start) and continue to find gems out of Texas, Florida, and California. We will do just fine with that and continue to improve.
I don't see 4 and 5 start talent at KSU and somehow they are challenging for a BCS spot.

Re: Next step in recruiting
I'm pretty happy with 3-star guys right now, but getting the occasional 4-star player is no question the next step. As much faults as the top-tier guys have (typically less intelligent and have egos/attitudes), there are good eggs in the lot.

Re: Next step in recruiting
there are literally (20) 5 star kids a year. that's it. we aren't getting any of em in my lifetime. be happy with the 3 and occasional 4 we get.

Okie State is generally all three stars.

Its ridiculous how successful they've been with average talent. Im envious of what they've done this year, but i really think we can go down there and beat them. ... but thats probably what every team thinks when they see how un-flashy they are.

Why is this kid not rated higher than Rohach? California compared to Iowa. If Rogers was a Cali, Florida, or Texas guy he would be rated as a 4-5 star. It's all a matter of perception when it comes to these ratings. When you put 20 4-5 star guys on one team it a great team. When you only have one or two of them they have to be really great! It's hard to do it alone.
