Two Scenarios that SHOULD put ISU in the Holiday Bowl
With the win by Texas over A&M, I thought I'd paint out two scenarios that I believe would put ISU in the Holiday Bowl. It's no secret I'm hoping for the Holiday Bowl to be ISU's destination so here it goes: Scenario 1: B12 Gets 2 Teams in the BCS This is probably the most advantageous scenario for ISU. Here is what I believe could happen:
OSU (11-1) - BCS (Win over OU in Bedlam)
KSU (10-2) - BCS (Win over ISU)
OU (9-3) - Cotton (Win over ISU, Loss to OSU)
Texas (7-5 or 8-4) - Insight (W or L against Baylor...shouldn't matter)
Baylor (8-4 or 9-3) - Alamo (W against Tech and W or L against Texas)
ISU (6-6) - Holiday (Loss against OU & KSU)
A&M (6-6) - Texas (Bowl is in Houston and close to home for them)
Mizzou (7-5) - Pinstripe (W against KU)
In order for the B12 to get the second BCS bid, it would also help tremendously for OSU to beat Michigan. While this is not necessarily needed, I think Michigan would jump KSU in the scenario above due to name cache. Some may say have OU beat OSU then and put OU & OSU in the BCS. Could happen, but in that scenario, I could see OU and Michigan making it and OSU being pushed to the Cotton Bowl. Yes KSU, OU, & OSU will have higher BCS rankings than Michigan, but if it comes down to KSU or OSU vs Michigan, unfortunately, I think a BCS bowl would opt for Michigan even though the B10 is a pathetic conference. Scenario 2: B12 gets 1 team in the BCS In this scenario, we really need to win 1 of our last two games IMO and also need Texas to beat Baylor next week because I believe we would jump Baylor (but not Texas) for the Holiday so we need Texas to win and secure the spot in the Alamo Bowl over Baylor.
OSU (11-1) - BCS (Win over OU in Bedlam)
OU (9-3) - Cotton (Win over ISU, Loss to OSU)
KSU (9-3) - Insight (Loss to ISU)
Texas (8-4) - Alamo (Win against Baylor)
ISU (7-5) - Holiday (Loss to OU, Win against KSU)
Baylor (8-4) - Texas (Win against Tech, Loss to Texas)
Mizzou (7-5) - Pinstripe (Win against KU)
A&M ( 6-6) - Ticket City
Lots can still happen, but both of the above scenarios are pretty viable. Still California Dreamin' !!
Go Clones!

Let's just hope Missouri and Tech both find ways to lose. That would make this headache hurt a lot less.

KU over Mizzou would make my weekend although I don't think it will matter to ISU at the end of the day. Better to be safe than sorry though!

Re: Two Scenarios that SHOULD put ISU in the Holiday Bowl
People need to remember one of the main reason Nebraska got jumped in the Insight last year was because Beebe didn't want them to play a Big 10 team when they were 6 months away from going to the Big 10, essentially making the game an entire Big 10 infomercial. It wasn't because they were simply "leaving" the Big 12. So I wouldn't be so sure ISU would get chosen over aTm, unless its an SEC matchup, and I think the only one is the Cotton.

While true about the B10 infommercial being a big reason Nebbie got snubbed. I would REALLY be surprised if A&M jumped ISU given the way the season's played out. ISU is EXCITED and would travel HUGE to San Diego. A&M wants to fire their coach and thinks they just completed one of their most underperforming season's ever. Their fanbase is wanting to turn down a bowl bid. I just would be shocked if A&M got chosen over ISU especially when there is a Texas bowl just sitting there for A&M to play in.

I disagree. Iowa State won't travel huge to San Diego. Too far and people will make excuses it's too expensive. Tempe was closer and cheaper and we took some fans, but it isn't like we took 30,000 or anything.
Tempe was a borderline drive for people that REALLY wanted to go but couldn't afford to fly. I don't see people jumping up and down for a 28 hour drive.

I just think a lot of people automatically think we will jump aTm and Mizzou just because they are leaving. If we jump them, it will be for some other reason, IMO.

I think we would travel just fine to the Holiday Bowl. It's my first choice, followed by the bowl in SanFran.
Clone to the Bone with the up and coming IOWA STATE. -

If the bowls think we are going to travel we'll be a priority. Whether we do or not won't matter until next year. As of now, we are on the plus side of the traveling ledger.

San Diego is warm and beautiful. ISU fans would flock there IMO. I have about 10 friends along with myself that are there in a big way if that is our destination.

Airline tickets are about the same as Tempe (I just checked).

Re: Two Scenarios that SHOULD put ISU in the Holiday Bowl
As far as ISU fans traveling to san Diego, I think our next two games could play a pretty big factor. If we go 0-2 we won't send a huge crowd anywhere. If we go 2-0 we'll send a huge crowd.
