I had a guy from Florida comment on how much speed he thought ISU had. While we know we are not the fastest team around, it appeared that way to people watching.

A little? There has been at least twice as much ISU gear this fall than when I moved here three years ago. I'm almost worried that my source of cheap Cyclone gear on clearance at Scheel's is going to dry up.

    It's November 30th.

On the sentiment of the thread, however, I see more and more Cyclones wearing their gear up here in the western Chicago suburbs. Still too many goddamn Hawkeye flags and license plates though.

Heading to Phoenix and back for Thanksgiving I was wearing my I-State pullover (bada$$) and I was stunned at the number of people commenting on the OSU game! Including two separate incredibly hot chicks at different times who obviously follow football, which makes them even hotter!

Yea, I find great Cyclone stuff dirt cheap at the Waterloo mall Scheel's and Gordman's all the time.

I actually haven't really checked out Gordman's. I know I have bought a shirt the one time I was there... IDK why I haven' been back. But I hit up the scheels stash quite a bit.

    Re: ISU Exposure

I went to high school in Minnesota and most of my friends would ask me when I wore Cyclone gear what level Iowa State played at. They would be amazed when I told them that we are a D1 school and we play in an BCS conference like the Big 12. (Most had no clue who was in the Big 12 and would be more amazed when I threw out names like Texas and Oklahoma) One of the best parts of the game experience against OSU was having my phone blow up from people asking if I was at the game and that they were pulling for the Cyclones.

Yea, I just got a nice winter hat there last weekend when I was out shopping for some cheap stocking-stuffer type gifts. I think that is also how I ended up finding my nice ISU basketball shorts last year, come to think of it...

    Pro:
I'm at a Hy-Vee in Lincoln, wearing my I-State T-Shirt earlier this year, when my wife (wearing a UNI T-Shirt) and I were stopped by a local resident. We talked about how ISU was doing this year, to which I replied "not all that great, but I'm hoping for something good in the future (NOTE: this was after the Mizzou game). He then talked to my wife about UNI's season, chatted about college stuff, what brought us to Lincoln, etc. His final sentence was "It's great to see some Cyclone/Panther representation in this state. Keep fighting the good fight." Sure wish I would have taken down his number or something.

    Con:
The Scheel's in Lincoln has more TEXAS apparrel than ISU...I thought Nebby and Tex hated each other!

    Re: ISU Exposure

Iowa State is on the radar in Colorado. When I wear my ISU apparel I usually get a comment about our coach and how we ain't gonna be able to keep him. IMO Paul Rhoads has put us on the map.

I think the OSU game was a watershed moment....national exposure and the Clones came up big.

If Rhoads stays for the long haul ISU will continue to improve. I actually think the guy would say no to most overtures from other programs since I think he sincerely loves being a Clone. It'd be hard for him to turn down a upper level program like a PSU......the Clones AD should be ready to boost his and his assistants pay.

    Re: ISU Exposure

One thing that bothers me about the football season this year: everybody is talking about the OSU victory, but I don't think we're getting enough credit for the Texas Tech win. They were averaging 40 points a game in the 4 conference games previous to us. In the final 5 games, which includes our game, they avged 20.4 points/game. I think we exposed their offense, and how it could be stopped and your kidding yourself if you don't think the D-coordinators of the schools in those final four games didn't take a very close look at how we did it.
