There's been several reports that Miami is recruiting CB Gary Simon who is an elite athlete in FL. Don't expect him at UM. Future JUCO.

It means even less than that. I also had a 30, but I slacked in HS and didn't give a damn about the future so I only had like a mid-3 GPA. Went to ISU with zero schollys. The only time the ACT score ever meant anything was the day I opened it up and was proud for 5 minutes. The only thing it's done since then is allow me to talk about it in this thread.

I went to ISU with a 33 on the ACT, and had a couple scholarships for being in the freshman honors program and from HS grants. To get the best scholarship that ISU offered(Merit Scholar) you had to have a great PSAT score. That is right, PSAT, not the actual SAT, or the ACT which was how they decided entrance. I think they ended up having to redo that program because their "Merit" Scholars had GPA averages around that of the Greek system.

Re: Gary Simon
Who freaking cares what his ACT or GPA are? All that matters is that he qualifies. And, even if he doesn't qualify, getting him a visit here can only help our chances after JUCO, if he goes that route.
We certainly have a lot of people on their high horses about grades.

The first time i took the ACt was in my Jr year. I got a 21. took it again my Sr year and got a 25. This time, the kid will have a little more incentive (getting a D1 scholarship) and will likely get some help studying for the test. He can easily raise his score 3-5 points.

We certainly have a lot of people on their high horses about grades. I wonder if you realize the irony of the bold. Right now, his ACT/GPA combination is holding him back from qualifying.

Am i the only one who got worse when they took the ACT a second time? -
Re: Gary Simon
Had about a 3.3 GPA in high school and got a 19 on the ACT. I didn't prepare at all for it so that might have hurt my score. I remember that by the time I got to the science portion I was so frustrated that I just started randomly guessing. Biggest waste of time, ever.

I saw a tweet that Miami was really picking up in their interest. Miami is a pretty legit school, so I'd say the likely hood that he qualifies are pretty good. I had a 31 too. Had a 1210 SAT. I don't know if I even get accepted to ISU without that because I graduated in the bottom half of my high school class. Some people just test well. (and some people don't give a **** about homework.)

Simon has an offer from THE Ohios State University and he is coming to ISU to visit. That is awesome no matter what his test scores are. As long as he qualifies, that's all that matters at this point. What are you talking about now?? I thought this thread was about how awesome everybodies GPA/ACT scores were in high school! Who is this Simon??

Re:Gary Simon
When I was in 2nd grade I got 3 stickers on my spelling test. However, I did go to a really good pre-school so I probably had an advantage.
