If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls
The Chiz probably got himself a lifetime contract after that MNC win.
With the way their boosters literally run Auburn, I can see the Chiz being forced to "step down" if he doesn't compete for the SEC championship again in the next 3 years.
The drop off from last year has been dramatic. Malzahn just tooka pay cut to coach at Arkansas State. After last year he was offered the Vandy job for a LOT of money. He probably thought they could do well this year and he would get a better gig. He jumped ship pretty quick.
Roof their DC left to be DC at UCF due to their incredibly dissapointing year on D.
Chiz has to hire two new coordinators. So far, his only good coordinator hire was Malzahn. Followed by Roof, McFarland, and Bolt. In that order. If he effs up his next coord hires, his leash will really tighten. Cam Newton carried them to a championship. This year they are back to 7-5, where they were in 2009. They are bringing in good recruits, but we'll see if Chizik can coach them or if it was a one year wonder.
