Re: Des Moines Register
Haha All this proves, is how bad the photographers really are. They take tens of thousands of photos each year, and these are the best?! I can/have taken better photos of my dog using my iPhone.

The Register whiffed so badly on its coverage of the biggest game in the state this year, that, if any of them have any pride at all, they are just trying to bury their failure.
That paper has been bad for quite some time, but I can't recall a year of worse coverage than this one. I understand that, now that they've whittled their writing staff to Randy Peterson and a part-time janitor, they simply can't cover things like they used to, but there really isn't any excuse for their bizarre choices on OSU night, a night when literally nothing else was going on in the country. NBA was locked out, no other college football games were on, but they apparently only had enough staff to go watch WDM Valley play (and their coverage of that game was terrible, too!)
The icing on the cake was them writing "analysis" that hinged on ISU losing. Pre-written "news" should be viewed as an embarrassment, not a journalistic necessity.
And, in terms of "quality" photos? I guarantee you that the photo of the guy kissing the girl during the hockey riots is on every journals' "Best of..." List, and it ain't because of the prettiness of the picture (it isn't framed up right, it isn't immediately compelling, it is hastily taken) but because of the journalistic quality, which is a combination of look and story.
The fact that the Register couldn't find a decent photo that helped tell the biggest Iowa-related national sports story of the year, when non-local papers like the Cedar Rapids Gazette and the Wall Street Journal had no problem doing so just tells you how far the Register has fallen.
The Big Peach didn't just die. It rotted in the grave, leaving nothing but a nasty, mouldering, dessicated pit.

Haha I have moved on... the haters are the one keeping this thread alive... Gotta prove your point... If you read the op... I say good thing Iowa played in Ames this year or else ISU prob wouldnt have any photos in this thing.... you havent brought anything to my attention that change that thought other then negative comments and name calling!! -
Re: Des Moines Register
The Sioux City Journal (very much pro-Iowa and pro-Cornhuskers) actually had the ISU victory over OSU as their #1 sports story of the year. That was very unusual for them to even acknowledge any thing positive for ISU.
