One of my buddies works for a company that submitted a proposal for the new facility (they didn't get it) but he was saying the tunnel couldn't happen because of all the utilities that are buried in that hill. Moving all of that stuff would be really hard and expensive. Might not be accurate but this is what he said.

This. If there is a "tunnel" it would connect the new facility to the Jake not through the hillside area.

Pretty much word for word what JP said during this past summer's tailgate tour stop in Omaha. Tunnel was to connect FB facility to ramp on west side of Jake.

I was also told by someone working in the office, that the tunnel would connect to the ramp on the west side of Jake.

I've heard there are indeed a lot of utilities in that hill but the plan is that the tunnel will go through the hillside someway somehow and meet up to the Jake around the pylon of the scoreboard. But what do I know.

Good stuff, great to see the athletics facility improvements around campus. I hope this pays dividends in all sports, including football. The new track/soccer area should give ISU more of a big time feel for those sports. JTS is SO much better now then even 5 or 6 years ago, especially from a fan experience. Keep it up JP!

In my best Yoda voice. "And that, is why they failed."
