Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
I wouldn't buy a printed copy.
I'd write and design a PDF/online version. Maybe it's even hosted on a secure portion of the site that you'd pay $xx.xx to access. Do this quarterly, keeping info and images fresh.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
I think I'd be more interested in purchasing a memento/souvenir type product. For info/content, there's enough online.
Maybe hook up with Winterink for a season review photo book?
Or, perhaps, a 'greatest meltdowns in CF forum history' coffee table book. -
Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
You would have to make it available in retail outlets. If you rely on subscription only it will flop.
I tend to think any Cyclone fan who comes across this at Hy-Vee would have no choice but to buy it.
P.S. Don't forget NW Iowa when you do this.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
Oh yeah.. I know a great print designer who has worked on similar projects. (see link below)

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
I stopped buying preview stuff a long time ago.
I want to say that I'd buy it, but I know that I really won't. It takes a lot for me to buy a magazine.
Sounds (to me) like one of those awesome ideas that is just awesome enough to get you into a ton of trouble.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
I wouldn't buy one. I love all of the stuff you write, however, I just wait for people to read it and write about it on Cyclonefanatic. So if you wrote one, again, I would wait until someone put a link up.
I do all internet now. I was getting ESPN the magazine and found I wasn't reading it. I was on my phone reading articles instead.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
Why not do a digital magazine and charge for it? You could make it a downloadable pdf file. That would save tons of print charges I would think. Just an free idea. Anything more than this, I charge.

I wouldn't be a buyer. Apples and oranges. I imagine the publication will be much more substantive than what you get here. And if not, it would need to be in order to be successful.
For instance, I miss Ben Bruns' articles. Maybe the publication could feature more of that sort of thing.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
Like many other posters, I would like to say that I would buy it but I don't know. Price point and distribution are going to be big. I would like good photos and stuff like that. Like another poster said I wouldn't want a rehash of web content.

The goal of the print publication would be to make more profit for the company overall so that we can afford to pay people like Ben to write on the site on a weekly basis. Without charging subscriptions here on CF and relying on advertising alone, we have a pretty fixed budget for that sort of thing as it is.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
The content would only be available in the print publication. It would not be re-posted on CycloneFanatic.com.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
I'd probably spend $5 realistically if I saw it in a store in Ames.

Re: Looking for a little feedback on a print publication
I'd buy one. The coverage of ISU in most preview magazines is terrible. It would be nice to read somebody that doesn't think we will go 1-11 every year.

P.S. Don't forget NW Iowa when you do this. The first thing I would do is not let people advertise for free in it.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

Which is probably why i'd buy it, as much as a vote of support for CF as anything.
