Re: Running back targets before signing day?
I would prefer to just skip RB this year but that's just me.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

Also, he's a 2-star recruit with a 4.91 40-yard. I ran a 4.9 in high school too and I never felt fast. I too still can run a 4.9. So can several linemen. Time to move on. Robert Standard will be really good.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

But seriously his rivals profile has him at around a 4.6 and that's much easier to believe for me

I'd just like to see them fill the scholarship with a position player of greater need.

Re: Running back targets before signing day?
Bye-bye, go to the Hawks. Not a fit for our offense anyway, especially if he wanted to be an every down back. I think he could have filled Woody's job eventually, but oh well.

Re: Running back targets before signing day?
Hopefully Hill can contribute to the Hawks right away. And hopefully, he eats grass the whole game at the hands of Maggit, Knott & Klein. :)

There is nothing better then fans that believe they know more about our needs then our coaches.

Re: Running back targets before signing day?
Lets finish this class off with LB- Schyler Miles and CB- Gary Simon,

If there is an athlete in your back yard you take him. I doubt we were using a lot of resources looking for RB's with what we have. So losing him wasn't that much of a hit.
It probably hurts ISU only in that it will help Iowa who we compete with on and off the field.

Re: Running back targets before signing day?
Losing Hill stinks but.......
1) from all accounts he didn't tear his ACL like people here have said
2) He is faster than 4.9 speed
3) Why do people compare him to Jeff Woody? There is no grounds for that. Jeff Woody was a walk on who is 6'1 235 lbs. Barkley Hill is 5'10 tops and weighs in around 190. They aren't the same back.
4) Rhoads liked him enough that he quit recruiting RB's after we got his committment. I think that says what the staff felt about him. And give Ferentz credit, he may not be able to keep RB's but he is a pretty good judge of RB talent. He offered Hill before Coker decomitted.
I know it makes us feel better to spin this as the kid isn't that good, but I don't think that's true. It's not a gigantic lose but losing an instate kid to a rival always stings and stops the momentum we were gaining in state.

This is pretty much what I'm thinking. Plus, didn't I read on here that he grew up a Hawk Fan? I don't like him pulling his commitment, but at the same time, if he thinks he's going to play right away, then you can't really blame him.
I like the attitude of, "I'm the best player wherever I'm at, let me prove it to you." It doesn't seem like that was his attitude, so I hope he enjoys losing to Iowa State.
