I think it is natural to operate at a slimmer margin if you are trying to catch the program up to other programs.
I think this is the reason for most of the increase in revenue:

I'm pretty sure you can make numbers say whatever it is you want them to say...just like Kansas and Baylor happening to have the exact same amount of expenses and revenue.
Well I think this should be a call to donate more???

The link above is where the ISU information is coming from (edit: since it didn't work see below). Really doesn't tell you much, the most interesting number on there is the non-allocated expenses, if we knew what was in there we would have a much better idea of how the information is reported.
If the link above doesn't work you can find the information by following the instructions. On the below page. Also I am sure if you are curious you can find any other public institutions information from here as well.

I don't think they are paying Snyder very much, since they don't have to worry about him jumping ship for greener pastures. Especially because his curernt pasture is named after him.
As others have said they are probably cutting corners to save up money for renovations.
Apparently K-State accounts for Athletic Department donations differently. ISU runs all theirs through the ISU foundation so they never hit the AD books. KSU runs theirs directly through the AD budget so a big donation for their stadium project will inflate revenue. This came from a poster in a previous thread, so as to give him the credit as I didn't know how KSU handles their books.
As for being profitable, non-profit and governmental accounting is not designed to make a huge profit. Sure, Texas and the big schools will because the cost of running a D-1 football program is going to be somewhat static across the country and they bring in a ton more in revenue. We are also servicing a lot of debt for all the projects that we have done the past 5 years. As long as we are breakeven, we are fine. That is how you have to handle a small budget when competing with the big boys. Pollard is a shrewd accountant (as am I :twitcy:).
