Re:Early Spring Peek at September 8

Just heard on Miller and Brinson that Iowa has possibly lost its starting RB to an ACL injury. Likely out all season.

Canzeri apparently has been atop the depth chart based on practice reps.

Is this legit? If so, wow. They already are thin at RB. They have had an absolutely terrible time finding RB's since Greene. They find a good one then he leaves or gets injured.

BTW - Anyone calling for a blowout (on either side) is absolutely crazy. Not that it can't be a blowout (for either team) but if anything has been proven in this game it is that no one has ANY IDEA what will happen in this game.
Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

I said last year that the game, based on coaches and players should be within two scores and if it is, we have issues. This was true. We should have won by two scores. We didn't because we had turnover issues that really hurt us throughout the season. I feel based on the players and coaches, again, that this game shouldn't be within two scores. That's not saying it won't be close because I believe it will be because of it being there and the rivalry but we are a much better team in terms of coaching and experience. Talent wise, they probably have us but talent alone doesn't cut it. They will throw a lot of inexperience on the field.

Special Teams-Depends on our kicker. Outside of that ISU but that is a very important player.

Both coordinators left Iowa. Yes, I know that the DC had health issues, but you don't leave when you are thinking B1G title. They saw the writing on the wall. Rebuilding year, good time to get out on a somewhat high note.

This. Lots of Iowa's talent is really young, that's why I said it would take time for them to gel.

Well, if you guys want to do it that way...I'm not going to argue a whole lot. I like what Wally is doing with the defense, but the game is in Iowa City, and stranger things have happened.

PS: You can't really call Canzeri the "starter", since he would likely have handed the job over the minute Garmon stepped onto ccampus anyway.

Only clueless Hawk fans and really clueless Cyclone fans don't realize that's why all their coaches hit the road. The writing is on the wall for the Hawks. They are in big trouble this year.

Sure, there is always a chance they could upset ISU, but, folks, they are way down. You just don't start freshmen on the defensive line. And I chuckle every time a Cyclone fan says players who have never played for Iowa are talented.

My goodness, that never gets old.

I am really curios as to how the new oc is going to work for Iowa. Texas, outside of the young years, was a defense led team. Their offenses were never that special, did enough not to lose the games even with dominating talent. Iowa does not have horn talent.

    QB- Iowa

    RB- ISU

WR- Push to slight edge ISU

O Line- Push to slight edge Iowa

    Tight End- Iowa

    D Line- Push

    Linebacker- ISU

    Secondary- Slight edge Iowa

    Special Teams- push

Looks pretty even to me. Fans of both teams have a tendency to overestimate the new guys on their team and underestimate the new guys on the other team.
