"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
Another factor. Has ISU ever recruited and scholarship-ed a deep snapper? Have they ever had an actual punting and kicking coach?
I can't remember the name but I remember reading a story on Mac giving a scholarship to a long snapper just because he thought it was a very important position.

I remember one year a coach went out and got the best long snapper he could find at JuCo and gave him a scholly. Don't remember who or what year though.

Thanks for the analysis. I didn't think we compared to the opponent as bad as we do.
Knowledge of JTS should be a plus for us, but we don't have the talent to take advantage of it, evidently.
Clone to the Bone with the up and coming IOWA STATE.
Not sure if this is worth anything but I go to school with a Tyler kluver who said he might go to isu. He is like number 4 or 6 for his class at long snapping in the nation.
Off topic, but that article was brutal to read due to the lack of quotations. I know Zimmerman came in as a walk-on in 2008 and pretty much told that he would receive a scholarship after one year if he secured the starting spot. Matt Purvis came in on scholarship in 2006 from JuCo.
Tyler Kluver is rated 6th in Kohls ratings and unrated by Chris Sailer. He has one more year of high school to improve. He is short for the typical deep snapper and he needs additional speed on his snaps. He is a .75 and needs to be .65 or better to be elite.
Any school that doesn't recruit and scholarship a good deep snapper is severely handicapping their program.
