Regarding a previously deleted thread
Fanatics -
Late last week, a thread was created about a potential situation regarding an Iowa State football player and legal troubles. Over the weekend, this thread was deleted but NOT due to censorship or anything like that. CF is not trying to hide anything at all. That thread got out of hand with insensitive and inappropriate comments being made about a situation that is no joking matter. That is why the thread was deleted. If you have any problems with that, feel free to PM me and discuss that matter at any time.
Here is the original link that started the thread. Please keep your commentary respectful regarding this situation. Thanks.

Re: Regarding a previously deleted thread
This is definitely a serious issue. Whoever the football player is will likely be suspended for a few games at the very least and more likely will be kicked off the team for these actions.

Re: Regarding a previously deleted thread
I'd still like to know how they know it's an ISU football player.

If the player was named, from behind the seal order, and later found to be innocent there might be a possibility of lawsuit.

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -

(Obviously not a lawyer but I do stay at Holiday Inn Express often.) This. Rape is a horrible crime, and being accused of it tends to stick with a person, even if they are innocent. In the article, it's a search warrant, so there is not (yet) enough evidence to even charge the person. I am okay with this, as long as it becomes public at the point charges are filed (which is how it works).
I have gotten a kick out of seeing the jackwagon replies disappear. Nice work, mods. Some of us appreciate it.

(Obviously not a lawyer but I do stay at Holiday Inn Express often.) If this is true, I'm curious about the difference between a player's ability to sue and Iowa State's. It seems Iowa State could make a similar defamation claim. Not meant to argue whether it's right or not, just curious about the law in this situation.

(Obviously not a lawyer but I do stay at Holiday Inn Express often.) Even if the player was found guilty, they'd have a good reason to sue; leaking the name could influence a verdict outside of the controlled environment of a courtroom. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever leaked this much isn't already facing serious repercussions, if that person is known.
Anything that could adversely affect the presumption of innocence is a major, major violation of procedure and does more damage than good to the prosecution's case.

I didn't read much of that thread. What was said player accused of?
