Re: CF MAILBAG: 5-18 Edition
I'm sad you chose not to comment on my greatness.
It's okay though, perhaps next week!

Thanks for including me in the mailbag Chris. However, I meant 23 MORE starts so 29 total for his career. Change your tune or not?
IF Jantz wins the starting job this year, That might mean Barnett would have to run the table is Junior and Senior year with competition from Grant and Sam. Of course Jantz could start the year and Barnett could end up with the job regardless. Just something to think about.

Re: CF MAILBAG: 5-18 Edition
I phrased my question wrong. Obviously guys like Shontrelle, Woody, and White will get more carries than Nealy. I was just wondering if you thought if the coaches would try to get him on the field more than some might expect. I love that we have the luxury of having so many weapons at RB

It was nothing against you. You're a fun poster and I'm very glad that you're on our site.

Yeah...I'd probably change my answer if you put it that way. I'd probably say under 29. I really think that Jantz will start at least half of the games this year...

I think he'll see the field. I think Rob Standard will see the field. I think that both guys will be used a lot like Hollis last year as far as number of snaps goes. Even so, it's pretty clear to me that they view Nealy as more of a "weapon" than Standard.
Great question. It was a fun one to answer. I love talking running backs.

Since the coaches have said we need to get our RBs more involved in the passing game, I could see Nealy getting his touches that way as well.

This is an interesting conversation to have, because every year during the Rhoads era the coaches have said this. It really hasn't ever happened. Maybe a guy like Nealy being in the stable will allow them to finally do so?

Based on what I saw in the spring game and what I could get from Coach Mess at Cy's House I think the difference this year may be how they try to get the backs involved in the passing game.
I think Herman was wanting to do it in more of a get those guys out there running routes, and Mess is looking to send them out in the flat or a short dump off and have them act as the go to option when the receivers are covered down field instead of having the default option being a QB scramble.
Which I can see as a significant plus because the dump to the flat vs scramble option can do some things to stretch the D a bit.

Chris,
Really? Have you ever been to Clemson on game day?
