    James White Reminds Me of...

    Alexander Robinson.

Steady, consistent, not overly flashy but gets the job done.

Very accurate comparison. ARob was better (IMO) but James White has been a solid back and will continue to grow. Both guys have incredible work ethics.

Re: James White Reminds Me of...

    Thanks!

I think ARob was a more physical/stronger back, but James White has the top end speed that ARob never was able to have/maintain due to pull groin muscles.

James White wheel routes for TD's are becoming a staple of big upsets (Iowa, OSU).

I don't recall any long wheel routes for TD's by ARob but will never forget the bull rush up the middle for a TD against Texas for the win. And of course, being a bigger back he was a better blocker in pass protection.

JW and shontrelle combination will be a great one this year. Shontrelle is very fast and JW is right there too. Finally some depth at RB. Gone are the days (hopefully/knock on wood) of Arob then Jeremiah Schwartz and beau blankenship.

"Not overly flashy"? Long touchdown runs are "not overly flashy" to you?

He had one at Kansas a few years ago, the game where we lost on the last play when Arnaud overthrew a wide open receiver at the goal line. I guess he may not have gone for a TD, but I think he picked up 25+ yards.

Just found it in the play-by-play from 2009, he went for 54 yards and scored on a 1 yard run a couple plays later.

It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element.

I think James White will be better than ARob. Stats may never show it with Nealy and Johnson taking carries and ARob getting everything we could hand him, but James White is a very good back.

Okie State in 2009 and possibly may have had one in the Colorado game as well.

I think James White is "Flashy" very quick and shifty, gets the corner and he gone!

James White is great and a joy to have, but he will never be better than A-Rob in my opinion... White isn't as powerful as Alexander was... Possibly gets up to speed quicker but that's the only part of the game where I see James having the clear advantage

He has that breakaway speed that A-Rob didn't have. A-Rob would not have scored that touchdown against Ok St in the 3rd quarter or outrun Baylor and Texas secondaries! You may end up being right about him not being as good, but I think he definitely has the potential! Not sure it will be very comparable though because of RB by committee.

That's a misconception I think. White isn't asked to run stuff where power comes into play a lot of the time.

White is quite a bit faster, IMO.
