Charles Rogers at State Track Meet
Charles Rogers won the 400m hurdles at the State Track Meet yesterday, and I believe he also got 1st place in a relay event as well.
For some reason I just envision this kid being a stud safety for us at some point. He's gotten quite a bit bigger over the last year and looks nearly football ready.
Congrats to him!

good to hear. I was hoping he'd be a corner, if only because of his size, but safety would be fine too

He's fast, as evidenced by his track ability, but that's different than being "football quick". I haven't seen enough of his ability to change directions on a dime, etc to know if he can play corner? Maybe someone else on here has?
He just looks like he'd be pretty big for a corner, but of course everyone looks big when I walk up to them since I'm 5'10 and about 175 lbs.
Last year at IC West he played at 6'1" and 185 lbs. I wouldn't doubt if he's more like 6'2" and 195-200 lbs now? Hard to say, but he's put on some upper body muscle. I mean, if he could somehow end up at 6'2" and 215-220 lbs in a couple of years, he'd make one heck of a safety or even a LB possibly?

The next dustin avey or nik moser perhaps. 6'1 200 is good size for a safety. David sims was only 5'9.

He's got great football speed. He looks quicker on the field than Mondo Williams, who got 3 rd in the hundred. I think he also won the 110 highs.

Congrats to him! In typical fashion, the Cr Gazette is all over his exploits, yet won't mention anything about his college choice, or mention the two words 'Iowa state' in recent articles.
They're either completely uniformed, or don't want to offend their army of tavern Hawk readers

If he was going to Iowa, Marc Morehouse and Mike Hlas would have each had feature articles talking about him and his abilities to help the Iowa football team. Heck, there might have been a special 3 page section in the paper devoted to him?
Oh, and by the way, congrats to Charles! He dominated his events at the state meet. Quite an athlete.

Re: Charles Rogers at State Track Meet
I think he'll stay at corner. 6'1" is good size for anywhere in the secondary, as long as he has the quickness and hip swivel requisite in a good corner.

Yeah, I don't care where he ends up position wise, I'm just not sure what his change of direction speed and hip swivel is like?
