810 WHB LIVE - ESPN
(Should be direct link to broadcast)
They're up next after the current commercial break.
Main website page if above doesn't work:
They are waiting for the Big 12 press conference to start. (Taking some callers as filler)
I'm not expecting breaking news out of this.
According to these radio guys, Bill Snyder said today that if/when the Big 12 goes to 12 teams there will not be division and 9 games would be played.
Bump. It's going live now.
Q&A right away.
Comfortable at 10 members at the present time from the AD's.
Wait to see what happens with the BSC. Best position right now at a 10 member league.
No appetite for a conference championship game in football from the AD's. Can get to National Title w/o a CCG.
ADs like that the conference champion can get to the NCG with one less game.
What else are they going to say until someone officially defects. Snyders comments are interesting, but he talks a lot.
In favor of a Top 4 "BCS" not connected to conference champs.
Selection committee to determine Top 4 teams. Strength of Schedule MUST be included in process. (From Chuck...stressed MUST)
Look at Stanford vs. Oregon last year as an example of how Selection Committee would work.
Oregon beat Stanford by 20 pts, won their conference, and was essentially hurt by losing to LSU. Chuck said a selection committee would obviously chose Oregon.
Divisions are not required if expansion occurs neither are CCG's.
Divisions are just that divisive according to Chuck. Working together is still very important for the 10.
Dancing around expansion within the next year. Reporter wants them to say they will not expand in the next year. Usual dancing.
Interesting are you guys getting the vibe that we are expanding or staying at 10? I know what they are saying, but are they contradicting themselves with tone?
I doubt we stay at 10 if good schools are actually interested. That's where the 9 games, no CCG, or divisions come in.
TV contract and BCS situation will dictate the moves.
