I was in Ames with my youngest 2 kids attending orientation.
While they were busy we went down to the field and took some pictures.
They were replacing the parking lot signs and the guy taking them down said I could have the old ones from C4 where we tailgate. Will be good in the "Cyclone Country" Bar. Good mancave material
Thanks for sharing.... Very jealous of the lot signs as well....
Why are two people kissing in the tunnel in your second pic? They must be trying to start a new tradition similar to campaniling. But if it is just going to be the team using the tunnel this new tradition might be a little distracting from the business at hand on game day.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
The original renderings show a tunnel connecting to the facility. I can't see them spending $21 million on this facility and then building a tunnel that doesn't connect. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

The tunnel is denoted with a red dotted line that ends before the FOF and at the videoboard support. I have a feeling that there will be a sidewalk. Just a guess.
Sidewalks marked with the arrows (obviously I could be wrong):

Has to be a sidewalk...how else would the fans walk around to the West Gate? I assume when the team comes out there will be ushers or something that stops the crowd that is walking to and from the West Gate so the team can walk by to the tunnel??

lol.... Hadn't noticed that.... just 2 construction workers.... but unfortunate timing on the picture.... Haven't heard what kind of access there will be after hours..
most likely some sort of gated/controlled access.
I was also looking at the big screen towers.. and they look as if they would be easy to get on and climb..... probably have already been the target of some dares.

The tunnel is actually denoted by the light red lines perpendicular to the tunnel that is sortove covered by the P and L on the renderings. I see this more as a bridge for the fans going in to the stands over a path for the team to the field.
Not a very long tunnel and think of the same thing gooing from the parking lots to hilton under the road.
