Re: CF Exclusive Conversation: With Shane Burnham
Great interview Chris. i enjoy listening to Shane, lots of knowledge and enthusiasm.
"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived, and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."

I wouldn't be shocked to see Bevins start next year. McDonough, Lang, Durbin and Simon gone. I'd imagine it would be Bevins and Woods or Pompey

I really can't see him entering next season as a starter. I think he has the most potential of any other DT here currently though.

Jake has been a great contributor and is a highlight of our program. It all ended fine, but it sure sounded like Shane was going to go too far in his description of what we don't want to recruit with McDonoughs parents standing right in front of him. They understood what Shane meant and were good sports about it.
This is much of what I like about Shane, Rhoads, and the whole program. They are just out there and open with their thoughts. They make you feel like you really know what they are thinking. And this is very fun as a fan. If guys like McDonough aren't the kind they want to recruit, what kind do they want now?

Re: CF Exclusive Conversation: With Shane Burnham
Two years ago, when we played Utah, they had a soph. DT named David Kruger. He was 6'5" and 285 lbs. He absolutely "ate up" the interior of our OL. At the time, I remember thinking that it sure would be nice to have a player that big and mobile in the interior of our DL. Hopefully, that is what Collin Bevins can bring some day.

Yeah starter may be pushing it next year. But with Bevins, Meyers, Delvyn Cousin coming in and Woods, Jensen and Pompey already working we should be in good shape depth wise for 2013, just need our stud to show up (looking at you Pompey!!!).

Who knows, but it's pretty wide open. Not much experience ahead of him. I actually am going on record after thinking of it and am predicting it now. Collin Bevins starts as a RS Freshmen in 2013. -

He must have thought of Jake as their first year, not Jakes. He gained 30 lbs the summer brfore his frosh year, but then got sick. ill take 6'5 260 kids all day long.

Yeah he was telling the story about how small the DL was when he first got here and he had this 6'5 220 kid. He wasn't saying that he doesn't want to recruit kids like that. Just that they were undersized when he got here.

I really hope he can stick around for a long time. ISU needs continuity in it's staff. My hope is when the new B12 money starts rolling in the staff gets a big raise.

He loves Jake, especially on the inside. Shane was simply saying that now they want to get guys out of high school who are already bigger and more athletic. Same idea as in the CW interview. And this is what they did with this year's recruiting class.
If the new bigger and more athletic guys have Jake's heart and work ethic, we will be in awesome shape!
