    Re: isu QB competition?

So how many was that? Was it one per win or like one, then two, then three... Also why are you drinking steel reserve.

    Re: isu QB competition?

I haven't read the rest of the thread, but am thinking Niang should go out for the QB spot. Tall, so he can see over the line... Plus has nice soft hands that make for easy handling of the football.... Probably can't run the Zone Read with him though.....

    Re: isu QB competition?

It is tough for us to say on the qb. The bowl was an absolute pathetic display of qb play by both players. Barnett looked terrible and then Steele came in and looked worse.

For the Cayin ****** above me, I'm not sure if he watched the Bowl. But he said it backwords. Yes Steele looked back, but Barnett looked worse.

As for the OP, This year Jantz is the starting QB with Barnett as the top reserve. Next year is Richardson with Barnett as the top reserve.

The only thing that went right with Steele in the bowl game was a couple scrambles. That's it.

Totally agree. Which is why, if I was Richardson, I surely wouldn't be counting myself out. Richardson will start the year at #3 for sure, but if both Barnett and Steele play like they did in the bowl game, he will get a shot. We won't win a single game if we get the QB play we did in the bowl game.

Rutgers put like 9 guys in the box and absolutely DARED our QBs to prove they could even complete a short pass to wide open receivers, and we couldn't. It was PATHETIC.

Steele as the ability to be a special QB, but if he can't eliminate the stupid mistakes, he won't play. Barnett is more steady, but he's not capable of making the great plays that Steele can.

I think we might see Steele starting, but he will be on a VERY short leash. If he starts making stupid plays and costly turnovers, he will be on the bench pretty quick.

    Re: isu QB competition?

Steele has the bigger play capability but lacks consistency. Barnett is is more consistent but plays at a really low level and is still turnover prone(not as much as Steele, but it would have cost us the game against oSu if sharpe would have made that field goal).

I would love nothing more than to have Samantha Steele be our starting qb.

Also, I would like to remind you guys that I am still in the mix to start at qb, still waiting from that call from CPR that I can come practice with the team.

    Re: isu QB competition?

My money is on Steel starting, and we will not see Richardson or Rohach at all.

I do enjoy how people who believe JB will start ignore the amount of turnovers he had/potentially could have had, while bringing up SJ's turnover problems.

    Re: isu QB competition?

I still don't think we have seen Steele at his best. I think his injury was hampering his throwing more than we know. When he returned for the bowl game he was obviously rusty. I have a feeling he can be a much better QB than we've seen from him.
