Re: isu QB competition?
Honestly I am most intrigued to see Richardson. He appears to be a very comfortable pocket passer. I think he will be a good one down the road

Re: isu QB competition?
A simpler offense will help Jantz the most. Barnett had the edge there last year since he already had a year in the offense and Jantz was new to it.

I don't think Steele is a 'football smart' as JB, but he is definitely more athletic and has a better arm. Honestly I'd be happy with either to start, but if the starter starts to struggle, I hope CPR will have a short leash

Re: isu QB competition?
Was cleaning out the DVR tonight, and got distracting by watching last year’s games. A few things stood out to me, and one of them was that Jantz's is the guy we need to become the starter next year. Our ceiling is much much higher with him. Arm strength, speed, elusiveness, and accuracy all appear to be better than Barnett's. I will say that Barnett read the zone read more effectively. I'm hoping another year of learning the system will allow Jantz to make better decisions and avoid some costly turnovers next year. Also hoping his injury last year really was a large part of his struggles (as was rumored). The other thing that stood out was how elusive Shontrelle is. I like White's speed, but Shontrelle is (was) our most dynamic back. Hope he is healthy, and able to contribute again. Getting excited for football -
Re: isu QB competition?
Steele was at his best when the plays broke down and he had to improvise and be instinctive. If coach mess can simplify things enough where Steele can just react, it will help him. The good thing about JB was that him being good at the zone read gave us some consistency. This also helped rest our defense with less 3 & outs. I think we need to have Steele be the guy due to his big play ability. Long, sustained drives are tough and we need bigger plays.

Rumor has it that Barnett will win the job. Also, our offense is running 100 times better now and a lot more effective.

Well it's stupid when someone comes in here and says, "Rumor has it." Rhoads doesn't even know who the starter is yet or he would have announced it already. No one knows. Not you. Not anyone. Nadda. Zip. Zero.

Rhoads may not have said who the starter is but from what I know, it's pretty well known throughout the team that Barnett is going to win the starting job.
Don't get your panties in a bunch just because your man crush Steele isn't going to win the job.

Don't get your panties in a bunch just because your man crush Steele isn't going to win the job. Thats what everyone thought about Tiller last year. That didn't happen. Just because the team may like Barnett more doesn't mean he is the best man for the starting job.

In fact, I actually think I posted on here at one point that the competition was between Steele and Barnett because Tiller's grades weren't in order.
Look, you don't have to believe me, but I have some really reliable sources within the team. My source is right more often than not.

Many reactions were geared toward "ISU QB competition" — when most of the competition is among the fanbase.

Re: isu QB competition?
Why would anyone assume the job is Barnett's job to lose?
