WWE Smackdown Sept 1 at Wells Fargo
My 10 year old son is just freaking out about WWE Smackdown coming to Wells Fargo on, of all days, Saturday Sept 1. I haven't told him this is the night as the first home ISU game. I thought about tailgating all day and then going down, but knowing the way that I tend to drink once in awhile tailgating, probalby not a good idea. Damn, I gotta find a way to make this work. Any brilliant ideas are welcome.

Go with your son to something that he will remember forever instead of thinking about yourself.

The game time hasn't been set yet as far as I know. I'm sure it will be a night game, but maybe it will be in the afternoon and you can do both. :)

You've done a poor job parenting if he prioritizes WWE over Cyclone Football.

Re: WWE Smackdown Sept 1 at Wells Fargo
Coming from someone who has no kids and prays that he will never have any I give you this advice: Judging that this WWE event is on a Saturday this will be nothing more than a lowly house show instead of an actual television taping. You will be getting nothing more than cookie cutter matches and minimal amounts of excitement. Your son is 10, he should be at least half way rational. I would pose the idea of trying to swap out taking him to a boring house show for a PPV or Televised event in the near future. Do some homework and find something around Iowa you could take him to and really make a memory that would last a lifetime.

I'm thinking about cloning myself so that I can do both.

Go to St Louis for the 1000th Raw, will be way more exciting than a house show.

Re: WWE Smackdown Sept 1 at Wells Fargo
Totally honest here. Go to the show and skip the game. First, it's a game that we should win, so you won't miss much other than opening weekend. Secondly, it doesn't matter how many times you've been to one of those shows or if it's a house show or not. It's time with your kid. My dad took me to two of those when I was younger. I know he had to be bored out of his mind, but I loved it. I still remember seeing Andre the Giant, Jake the Snake Roberts, Big John Stud, etc and that was 30 years ago.
Unless he would want to go to the game with you, bite the bullet and take him to the show.

Tell him its time to grow up, wrestling is fake, and football is a mans sport. You don't want to raise a wussy do ya?
But if you have the money for this, I would swing the would you rather go to the Cyclone home opener AND Raw in St. Louis, or go to a house show where we can already guess who wins before going there.
I went to one of those and you know exactly what is happening. Funny thing though, they added a title match to make it a little more exciting... I think it was Christian who was a champion at the time and he actually got hurt during it and Booker-T won the title -

The Des Moines event's main match is a fatal four way between Shameus, Randy Orton, Del Rio, and Ziggler.

I'd spend the time with your son. You can probably sell your football tickets for a price that pays for this one, if money is any concern.

Re: WWE Smackdown Sept 1 at Wells Fargo
I loved wrestling as a kid. My father hated it. I've been to a few of these events, and it was always my mom who took me. Maybe that's an option? Or him go with a friend and his parents? I see both sides of it... if he wants you to be there then you should probably go. But from my personal situation, I didn't care who was with me as long as I was there.

Re: WWE Smackdown Sept 1 at Wells Fargo
Easy. Tell him that WWE isn't any more real than the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. Um, hope you've gotten around to those two...
