Indeed. Lots of times he was palming the ball, not even holding it well with one hand. This tells me that he is living off of his athletic ability and not paying much attention to his coaches. I can't imagine a coach not telling him to tuck the ball away. If he can add a few common sense disciplines, he could be awesome and I would love to see him in cardinal and gold.

Re: Jay Scheel - Union High School
love hawk fans coming on here saying that any good recruit is some huge hawkeye fan and there is no chance anybody will get them, when we all know, if the kid is that good, he is going out of state anyway.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

Why would you say your pumped for your first offer when its actually your 4th BCS offer?
Im from small town Iowa. Last year we had a kid that was a pretty good athlete at the catholic school in town. If you asked 20 people at the game who his college choices were you would get 20 people listing off your typical midwest D1 schools. Fact is he was offered perferred walkon at ISU and scholarship at USD. You could ask my uncle to this day and he will say the kid had offers from everyone.
Just because a poster with an acroynm for a name of a school where this kid is from states offers doesnt make it fact. My uncle could start an acct too.
I have no doubt he will get all 4 schools to offer but to say Wisconsin offered a full ride to Jay Scheel from La Porte City, Iowa after his sophomore yr after not even camping there is a stretch. I actually spent the weekend in Dysart (the misses hometown), and I had a pretty interesting conversation with a teacher in the school district, that coaches at the middle school and heavily involved in the football program top to bottom. He said that two different athletes from Union camped at Wisconsin this summer. i will still listen to connected locals over pay per view website boards.

Pierschbacher and Lazard are likely going to be top-250 recruits, and scheel could work his way up there, too. There is some good talent in state next year.

It will be fun to see what he does this fall after attending some camps. Hopefully he'll gain some poise in the pocket to go along with his scrambling ability. First of all, I bet he plays a diff position in college. But if a QB, your analysis seems strange. Yes his delivery is weak, but did you mean to say back foot? Throwing off ones front foot with good balance is desirable.

I think you are right honestly, add in the OL Render from Indianola that Iowa has an offer out to and there should be some really good talent at the top of the state next year.

Within the last few years all of these players were highly rated three stars or four stars.

Austin Blythe
Brandon Wegher
A.J. Derby
James Morris
Brandon Scherff
Andre Dawson

Kind of like the isu fans that claim any good prospect with a probable Iowa lean wants to pursue engineering. And to have the audacity to mention that he's a good student, like that favors isu. Iowa is often ranked higher
