I had some obligations that day so I had to miss the entire third quarter. I realized, upon my return, that I had missed nothing.

That was a case when ISU's JB-helmed offensive scheme was a bad matchup vs. OU's defense. The offensive line got pushed around and team speed was in OU's favor. That didn't make it any less frustrating to watch.

Mini-silver lining: It wasn't 31-3 midway through the 3rd. Baby steps.

Back-to-back plays that swung the game from competitive to unlikely — around 2:30 mark of first half, driving inside the 30, play breakdown forces JB to throw out of bounds, then then near-pick-6. Combination of play-calling, QB experience and OU's penetration.

I think an average QB would have beat OU that day. OU was not 'on' and the defense gave the offense multiple chances.
