Justin Webster became Iowa State’s ninth verbal commitment for 2013 on Monday.
The 6-foot-1, 217-pound Webster is from Houston, Texas, and was recruited to play running back, linebacker or safety.
“I’m open for whatever the program needs,” Webster said. “Whatever they need me to play, I’ll step right in and do it.”
Webster also drew interest from Air Force, Southern Methodist and Texas Christian. He was also on the radar of Oklahoma State, but said he wasn’t thinking of either team when the Cyclones upset the Cowboys 37-31 in double overtime last season.
“I had no tie to either team, so I kind of watched it from a neutral perspective,” Webster said. “I saw a program come alive that night.
