Well, if 50% of weddings fail, you have slightly better odds there than seeing Iowa state win:
All Time Football Record: 492-590-46 (.457)
Per Iowa State Football History Database
Just sayin. Cyclone fan, but if you're going to use statistics....admittedly, you mentioned tailgating, but hey. satistics is satistics.
Re: STOP putting your weddings on Cyclone FB weekends!!
Got married last July and when we started planning the wedding my only rule was no dates during college football season. I have a lot of friends and family who have either Iowa State or Iowa season tickets. People pay A TON of money for season tickets so we didn't want to make anyone choose between a game and our wedding.
Re: STOP putting your weddings on Cyclone FB weekends!!
Here's the thing.
I wouldn't skip someones wedding for a game. However I do think it's kind of rude to schedule it during football season and I personally would not do this.
I had a couple of friends who wanted to schedule a fall wedding. They are both huge cyclone fans.
Their save the date card came in the mail. It looked just like the ISU football schedule cards and had their wedding on the schedule, during the bye week. Booya!
They new everyone would be pretty ticked if they were forced to sit through a wedding on gameday. They didn't HAVE to schedule around it but they were considerate enough to do so.
Also, I agree with some in this thread that you should not schedule on a gameday just because your fiance demands it. Especially if she knows that you don't want to do it on a gameday. It's an easy way to tick off a good chunk of hte people at your wedding. There are a lot of other weekends in the year.

Re: STOP putting your weddings on Cyclone FB weekends!!
had to miss the SJ big *** comeback game vs UNI lastyear due to a family wedding.
when will people learn
Re: STOP putting your weddings on Cyclone FB weekends!!
There is so much that goes into choosing a date. Venue availability, family schedules, ect. For me we had to wait until fall since my brother up and joined the marines this year, and was gone all summer. Could have just done it while he was gone, but we wanted to try and have him there. Wanted to get it in before harvest, since we both come from Farm families. So that left about a 5-week window in Aug/Sept. After meeting with the 2 venues in her small hometown where she wants to get married, we had about 2 choices. ISU vs. Iowa or ISU vs. WIU. We chose the latter. We could have waited until November, or rushed it to get into April, but ended up going with Sept 15th.
Like I said, no ill feelings to anyone that doesn't come, saves me $$$.
Re: STOP putting your weddings on Cyclone FB weekends!!
Agreeing to get married on a Saturday in the fall is either A. A sign that true love takes priority over every thing else in life or B. A foreshadowing of decades of "I'll be holding your balls in my purse hen-peckedness that I wouldn't wish on any man. Of course I'm not married so, I'm obviously an expert

Yeah, I paid per plate and for the drinks, and each person rounded out cost me $40 just in that alone. If you didn't come to the wedding, I most likely saved money. No skin off my back.
Wife and I were fortunate to get a spring wedding, that we pre booked 18 months in advance. I wanted to avoid everything like the fair, RAGBRAI, football, basketball, etc.

Compromise is the name of the game. I will miss ISU vs. WIU and go to every other game of the year. Guess that is fair. Wife-to-be is big ISU fan too, so I think we can make it last.
Re: STOP putting your weddings on Cyclone FB weekends!!
Wedding season is April-August. If you plan outside of this, it must be a destination wedding. Im pretty sure this was written into the constitution somewhere, but then again not sure we need it there, its a simple rule.
Just accept it ladies, its gonna be hot outside, weddings are meant to be in nice warm weather, a little sweat will not ruin the picture.

Write the check!
They have to fill all the pews they have before they should ever think about expansion. It looks horrible to have a half filled church on wedding day.
