    Ohio State's coach stealing history

We all know about Earl Bruce, and then there is Tom Herman (not sure if this was stealing as much as Herman lucking out with a good place to land) BUT Sam Willaman (coach of Jack Trice, 3 winning seasons in a row) was also hired away by Ohio State as an assistant and then three years later became Ohio State's head coach. While not the greatest coach at Ohio State he did lead them to 2nd in the Big 10 his last year and had a winning record.

Great chance for Herman. He can be a great OC if he has the talent to run his offense. Hes just one of the stubborn coaches that runs one system and doesn't adapt very well. Its really a lot more common than you would think too. He will have a lot more talent to play with.

But he wont be as "free" there either, Meyer will be holding his hand and telling him what to do.

He wont be running HIS system either. He will be running Urban Meyers system with maybe a little TH mixed in. UM said something along the lines that he hired Herman because he liked the tempo he ran. I have a feeling there will be a lot more UM system than TH.

If Herman is really as smart as he thinks he is, he will take whatever he can of Meyers system and run with it. Being able to run that system is what will get him a HC gig after a few years of pretty much guaranteed success at tOSU. They are "too big to fail".

Shouldn't John Cooper be mentioned in the OP?
Do you know why I put up with this 'pitiful job', Mr. Donaghy, why I fetch these folks' lunches and clean up their barfs? Cause they make television. And more then jazz, or musical theater, or morbid obesity, television is the true American artform.

It is a bit odd that so many ISU coaches and an AD have gone to tOSU.

Makes me wonder if any other programs are linked that many ways.
