My point is just that Im not sure why we can hammer away at Darks and Reynold but ignore mess ups by Horne and Lenz. Lenz may be our most consistent receiver but consistent and best are not the same thing to me.
Steele didn't get benched because of one play. He got benched because of several games worth of bad decisions. Reynolds was making huge catches but also boneheaded drops and holding penalties.

Thats not the point. The point is that Lenz has in fact messed up before. Also questioning Reynolds on his blocking is ridiculous. He was without a doubt our best perimeter blocker. That wasnt even close

I didn't say Lenz never did anything wrong, but he made the least mistakes as a receiver last year. I'm not saying Reynolds wasn't our best blocker either he just had a lot of holdings. (same thing with KO) You're trying to put words in my mouth.

Ah he may have one or two a season but he comes back and makes catches like he did against Texas and UNI. He catches damn near everything thrown to him.

Money and Darks were the only two hovering around catching 50%, everyone else was at least around 70%

Take out a few games throughout his career and his freshman season and Darks was continually underwhelming.

I hope no one is holding the offensive PI calls on Reynolds against him. That is the most inconsistently called penalty in all of college football in my opinion. You can watch any game and see receivers on both teams engaging blocks before the ball is caught repeatedly, and a receiver does exactly the same thing, possibly even less egregiously, and suddenly the hankie comes out. That really needs to be cleaned up.
Okie State was making hay with the early blocks in the ISU game but no call. Luckily it didn't come back to haunt ISU in the end.

Not Offensive PI but holding on run plays.
Re: Lenz, young WR's ready to shine
Imagine how many more yards and touchdowns we could have simply by reducing our mistakes. Done have to change anything. Stop throwing passes in the dirt and start catching the football.
Re: Lenz, young WR's ready to shine
Last year was a tale of two QBs. It seemed obvious that Money was Steele's go to receiver and when JB came in, Lenz got a lot more balls thrown his way. Gary also emerged as a favorite target for JB late in the season.
I this had a lot to do with the type of QB throwing the ball. Jantz took more shots downfield which favored Money's style going deep. JB favored the posession style receiver throwing shorter routes to Lenz and Gary.
I will always be grateful to Money for his contributions to Iowa State football even if he wasn't the most consistent WR. Great Cyclone!

Yeah I will give you that outside of Gary. I dont remember him making too many mistakes. My point is that while he wasnt making mistakes, he wasnt making as many big plays either. Darks was underwhelming as a whole and Reynolds had his share of mess up s but they did make huge plays. Where was Lenz late in the Iowa and OSU games? It was the other guys making plays

Really you are going to hold the fact that Lenz was injured early in the OSU game and had to ride the bench as proof that he isn't making big plays? That's low.
EDIT: For the record, I don't have a dog in this fight. I have defended both Reynolds and Lenz in this ******* match.
Re: Lenz, young WR's ready to shine
We wouldn't have beaten UNI without Lenz. You can't deny that. That would've been a terrible loss but he made one of the most amazing catches I've seen in person and we won.

Lenz got hurt and taken out of the game against OSU so I wont hold that one against him.
Jantz didn't throw to Lenz a lot. Lenz's looks seemed to increase a lot when JB took over.

Jantz tried to throw the one at the :40 mark of this video away and Lenz wouldn't let him.
