Re: Parking problems
I upped my donation to $500 this yr in hopes of getting a paved lot. Hope it works!

Re: Parking problems
Personally I don't enjoy tailgating in the paved lots. Tailgating in G7 is worth requesting a "downgraded" lot and the longer walk.

430AM arrival time on sept 1. So ready.

It does no good to get donations through fear frustrated customers. You're just as likely to lose donors who are unhappy they couldn't get the courtesy of a call for the amount they give. Especially if those being moved down were of adequate donor level according to the charts distributed by the AD.
As far as logistical nightmare, given how many calls i've gotten from the ISU foundation, surely some phone-dialers could be rounded up to call with the 'due to high demand, we may not be able to guarantee you the same parking as last year. if you wish to keep your spot, an additional donation will be required for 2012' spiel.

Re: Parking problems
This happens every year, no tears for anyone. Only way it won't happen every year is if we start going 2-10 habitually. Best just to contact whomever is in charge before you donate.

I actually agree with rebecacy on this. Courtesy calls are a no win for the AD.

It is not like the AD is going to start cold calling random people and threatening them they might lose their spot if they don't pony up.
If I would have had a courtesy call, I would have gladly paid the extra cash to stay where I am at. Apparently, it looks like I will likely be moved instead. I understand being bumped, but hindsite is 20/20.

Re: Parking problems
I wouldn't mind G7 if it weren't for the teenage parking nazis and the mud. Its a comparable walk, no wait for toilets, usually easy to get out. But we hang out for an hour or so afterwards anyway. We traded to go to g7 after the rest if our group got bumped from D2. After that year they all decided to bump up to our donation level.

Re: Parking problems
I have been on the paved lots and also in G-7. Paved lots are easier to get out of after the game. None of the parking is atrocious at JTS. With the loss of parking due to the new Football Facilities, it will likely take a $500 donation to get into the paved lots. And higher donation level always trumps longevity when consideration is given for reserved parking. Longevity is only beneficial as the tiebreaker for all others within that donation level according to what I have heard.

Re: Parking problems
I'm glad you are sayin G7 is worthy. The cement lots are so crowded its hard to even thro a bag. Gonna be worse this year. I'm ready to party with the G7 crowd! Woooo! I'll be the one with tequilla and big fat cuban cigars!!

Until, or even IF, this increase in giving levels off it is not possible to ensure any spots for anyone. Those who give the most, regardless of when they give it in the enrollment period, get what they want. The cascade occurs and the low end falls off. Take all the top money you can and don't make promises you cannot keep. This is supply and demand at work. Those who say "hey I have given 250 for 19 years" need to realize a one year $5000 donation trumps them.....everytime!!! You cannot call every one that is falling off the low end each and every time a higher donation comes in. Not reasonably possible and, quite frankly, a waste of time.
