The injury sets him back in his development for 6-12 months, so I don't expect anything from him until 2013 at the earliest. I like hearing that Jensen was up to 290 as a redshirt sophomore, and that Simon has transformed his body in the past year. Durbin being better than expected is just icing on the cake. Woods played quite a few snaps last year as a backup, so I think on the whole, we're pretty deep there this year. It gives me hope that the defense has a chance to be really, really good. If Watsen proves to be an able replacement for LJ, we can probably have the best defense we've had since 2005, maybe even better than that unit (which would be saying something, because that defense was very good). I think this year's defense will have more quality depth at pretty much every position plus these linebackers are better. However, DE's were probably significantly better in '05. And also the safety position was probably a little better in '05.

Not saying our DL of the past few years hasn't had their issues, but most of the guys have played as RS Frosh, including Jake, Dutch, Laing, Woods, and Jensen. Not 50 snaps a game, but they were getting some PT and some pub from the coaches. Haven't really heard anything about Pompey since he signed so I was curious on where he was at.

I think the Pompey hype comes from his Junior film and the senior tape before he got hurt. He was a man playing in one of the toughest HS football states. Watching him destroy James Wilder in the backfiled is still an awesome highlight. He was also considered exceptionally strong for his age. Not Andrew Billings strength, but very strong nontheless.
