I absolutely LOVE the little dig he takes at A&M!

Great interview. Really gives insight into what he thinks of the line and how he measures success.

From the video on Cyclones.tv, you made a little joke prior to your video here but the audio is terrible there and I can't hear it. What was your joke?

Mentioned everyone but Pompey? Or did I miss that?
"Hey! I'm building something here!"

That was Simon, not Pompey he was talking about. No mention of Woods either who saw alot of snaps at that position.

Shane walked up to us tonight and went, "I know, I know. Your first question is how are we going to get more production out of the defensive line?"
He was kidding around. So my first question of the interview was, "So coach, how are you going to get more production out of the defensive line?"
Just having some fun.

Re: CFTV: Shane Burnham talks tackles, line play
I found Shane Burnham's comment regarding Ben Durbin interesting. Said that Ben would likely be in for a lot more snaps that he (Shane) had originally thought. Apparently, Ben Durbin must be showing the coaches some good things that they hadn't expected.....

Shane sounded fortunate and surprised Ben has such athleticism.

Is he not fully recovered from his knee injury or is he just not yet living up to expectations. I think a lot of people are expecting big things out of him but we really haven't heard much about him yet. I think it's clear that the inside DL is no place for teenagers in the Big12 conference, no matter what the level of hype is. It's a man's position. I don't think we should ever EXPECT that a high school kid is ever going to be playing 50 snaps a game in those roles a true or redshirt frosh - if one is, you can bet that either he's a once a decade talent or we've got BIG problems at the position.
The injury sets him back in his development for 6-12 months, so I don't expect anything from him until 2013 at the earliest. I like hearing that Jensen was up to 290 as a redshirt sophomore, and that Simon has transformed his body in the past year. Durbin being better than expected is just icing on the cake. Woods played quite a few snaps last year as a backup, so I think on the whole, we're pretty deep there this year. It gives me hope that the defense has a chance to be really, really good. If Watsen proves to be an able replacement for LJ, we can probably have the best defense we've had since 2005, maybe even better than that unit (which would be saying something, because that defense was very good).
