S & C
All I have heard in player and coach interviews on CFTV and otherwise over the past few weeks is how extraordinary a job Yancy McKnight and the S & C program guys are doing making players bigger and faster. Corey Morrisey for example, in his CFTV interview, said he is up 17 lbs since getting to Ames which would put him near 260 lbs.
I absolutely love hearing this type of thing even if it is from internal personnel. CR also had a great 2 part interview with him (I think it was premium) talking about the improvements that several players have made including James White and Jake Knott, which was amazing to hear.
I probably geek out on this stuff a little more than the average Joe due to my job but everyone should be excited to see these weight room results translate to the field.
CW, if you are out there somewhere in the blogo-sphere, do you have any plans to speak with Yancy at all? I think there is some great story lines there.

Second this - would love to see a preseason story about the S & C work being done, and then follow up later on in the season talking about durability, on-field performance, etc that can be traced back to the first story...kind of a "here's what we want to see (part 1) and here's the proof (part 2)".

Re: S & C
Let me get this new site done and I promise I'll do something with Yancy. Thanks for the input!

I'm just glad Yancy is on our side helping our guys become the best Cyclones they can be.

Re: S & C
That would be awesome Chris. I think there is a lot of us on here that would be really excited for some stuff with Yancy.

Excited that Yancy will have a whole new set of equipment and facility to work with these guys too. It's not like the football team was using 1970's free weights previously or anything, but giving a guy like McKnight a brand new top of the line facility to work in can only spell good things for the future. Hopefully he doesn't get snatched up by a big money program because his results are the kind of results you open the wallet to get.

Yeah, if things go well this year and guys really are making these huge strides, Yancy will probably deserve a fat raise.

The recent article in the Ames Tribune made it sound like Tom Farniak made "huge" progress this summer.

Re: S & C
We've known about how important Yancy is to the program for a couple of years now. Players have often mentioned him, on and off the record.
He is a guy we need to keep a hold of.

He is a guy we need to keep a hold of. This isn't a slight at any of the other coaches, but in order of staff I'd hate to see lose:
CPR
Wally
Yancy
I like the whole staff, but I think the fact that so many people on the board know the name of the strength and conditioning coach says a lot about his caliber. It's not really a position that usually gets that kind of notoriety.

Sidenote: Has Wally said how much longer he is going to coach?
