This x1000. I hated all of their yellow helmets and the losing associated with them and agree those stains need to be erased.

The 95-02 helmets make me physically ill. Adding blue to our color scheme was just embarrassing.

Big fan of the modern ones and 76-78.

Wish these were our current helmets!! I agree we need the cyclone on the helmets. You notice all the well known helmets have a single color design like this. Iowa, Kstate, Texas, OU, Nebraska etc

I agree with the love for 83-86. Loved the old school cyclone logo. Also want to throw some love for the 81-82 design. For the time it was used it def. has a futuristic look.

I prefer the 1976-78 helmets. But the 1983-86 decal was the best. Those all gold helmets stank as did anything from the 1979-82 period.

Instead of best/worst:

Current: My favorite ISU official logo used on a helmet. I would like yellow helmet better, but still needs gold/red/gold stripes.

1967: Best helmet logo. I realize ISU helmets to that point were gold, but combo of secondary yellow on Walking Cy and the gold shell bugs me ... Walking Cy on a white helmet with red/yellow-red stripes on top may have been the way to go.

1976-78: Probably my favorite, but that's taking complete uniform look into account (sort of out-of-bounds with this discussion). Simple logo, collegiate, overall good constrast.

'79 and 81-82: Unique, I guess. Liked them a little at the time. Don't like anymore.

Mac era: Swirlybird logo was a cool idea, although navy blue: Awful and Typeface: Aged badly. As for the helmet --- Too busy. On TV, helmet looked like badly-defined mush. Mascot looks like a blur and no distinct lettering — neither helps make school unidentifiable at first glance.

83-86: Has a clean look. Cyclone was OK. Typeface too "fancy" in retrospect.

69-74: Similar to '76-78, but I don't like it as much.

'80: A dull version of '76-78.

'86: Not bad. I still don't remember seeing that one in action.

Walden helmets: Meh.
