He has muscles in his fingernails. I like our chances in those nail bitter type games.

That's pretty much what I was thinking through the entire video. That being said, I look forward to him playing.

This. We have to get to the point where guys like this are redshirted and Sophmores now instead of Juniors. JG should be a Junior next year instead of Senior, and so while we are blessed with two great starters and he is buried behind them, we need to get two great years out of him instead of one. Now we were in a position when JG was a Freshmen that he had to play some becuase we were so thin at LB, point is we need to be deep enough going forward where we have beasts like JG starting as RS Juniors instead of a normal Senior.

Wally did say in an interview he may play more snaps than Matt T last year (implying JG is too studly to have sit that much).

I think I heard Wally say that he would prefer to keep 3 lb's in there more and JG may allow them to do that. I suppose it'll depend on JG's pass coverage and the formation.

He sounds like he is absolutely chomping at the bit to get out there and contribute. I'm excited to see what he can do.

After watching the closed practice Sat, and all the playmakers we have on D I have a feeling our defense is going to be really really good... They will hit really hard and force a lot of turnovers.

Our D will make sure we are iin a lot of games this year.

I guess I have been sort of surprized (from viewing the Cyclone TV practice videos) at how quick Ben Durbin is. I suppose that is why Shane Burnham had stated in his interview that Durbin would be seeing a lot more snaps that what he had originally thought.

One of my favorite parts of the Saturday scrimmage was watching Klein, Knott, and George each take a shot hitting the QB with their shoulder. They just couldn't not hit a QB who came their way!

And you could really see George's speed and punch. I hope we will see a lot from him this year.

I think/hope you are right, and I think it is where ISU needs to be as program. Defense needs to keep them in games.

What I worry about is games like at Oklahoma last year. Where the defense forces 4 turnovers, and holds OU to 26 points and loses going away anyway. If you hold an offense like OU to 26 points and you get them in a year where they are vulnerable defensively like last year, you got to win that game, or at very least be right there with a chance to win. Even a mediocre offensive effort has us in that game late. Just makes me sick to think of wasting this defense like ISU did in 2005.

No, we don't. We need to get to where a substantial number of our signees are good enough to contend for PT as true frosh--and we aren't always worrying about squeezing out another year.

We got a new Marshall here in town, and his name's Paul Rhoads, and the times, they is a'changin'.

I think we just have to agree to disagree. You totally missed the point yet again. So you would rather have JG as a Junior this year rather than a Sophomore? Makes zero sense. We need to get to the point where we are deep enough we can redshirt these guys instead of HAVING to play them becase we have aobut 4 linebackers on the entire team, which was the case then. We haven't been deep enough at linebacker for many years, if you think other wise then you aren't paying attention. Very very few freshmen are going to come in and play at LB right out of high school and those guys sure as hell aren't coming down the ramp at Jack Trice anytime soon, that is the case across division 1 football. They are not physically nor mentally able to do it. We are talking about 18 year olds with no college conditioning versus guys that are 20 or 21 years old have had 2 years of spring/fall and college conditioning. Yes there are exceptions, but even top programs do not have freshmen coming in and playing major snaps at linebacker on any consistent basis. If you know of a magic place where 18 year old linebackers are coming in ready to gpo mentally and physucally, I suggest you get off the message board and start recruting. If we have true freshmen taking major snaps from Junors and Seniors, we have a problem at that position by definition.
