So I really want to know, did they just post the end of season rankings from last year? That's a key point: It says it measures how a team has performed "against its schedule this season to date." That seems reasonable.
I realize any system has to start somewhere ... I find it amusing where ISU is placed as a starting point.
Iowa State would beat the following teams ahead of it on this list at least 8 times out of 10 (not even counting anybody in the top 30):
UL-Lafayette
Western Michigan
Ohio
FIU
Arkansas State
La. Tech
Miami Ohio
San Jose State
UL-Freaking Monroe
On the flipside, some teams listed below Iowa State could probably split a 10-game series: Texas Tech, UConn are examples.

He doesn't know **** about football either, big surprise.

No surprising to them, considering they only lost one game to a team ranked outside the top 10.... and that team was in the top 25

Does anyone know if the the SOS he has listed for each team are similar to those on other credible sites? Just noticed half of the Big 10 are shown in the top 10 of SOS, and considering Minnesota is at #9, we are at #12, and they play UNLV, Syracuse, Purdue, W. Michigan, New Hampshire, Illinois, etc. it's not the Big 10's non-cons that are pushing them up that high.
I guess he doesn't specifically list that the SOS has anything to do with his ranking system, and for all I know he could have the SOS of each team perfect. It's just surprising to me is all.

HAHA! I trolled the troll.
Your post was a bit incendiary I guess. Not exactly trolling but it insinuated that he was being an ISU homer.

His SOS numbers are probably based on his own SOS ranking system and not the one most commonly used by the rest of the people on planet earth. To think any B1G team is ranked with a top 10 SOS is hilarious.

Re: CBSSports/Jerry Palm rankings
Phil Steele has Michigan at #4 mainly because they open the season against Alabama. The next highest B1G team in his SOS rankings is Michigan State at #21, Ohio State #23, Nebraska #25, Penn State #37, and Minnesota #42.
He has ISU #3, Baylor #7, Kansas #11, TCU #16, Oklahoma #20, Okie Light #22, West Virginia #31, K-State #34, Texas #36, Texas Tech #50.
That means Texas Tech which has the worst SOS ranking in the Big XII Conference still ranks ahead of 6 B1G teams.

All I did was go to the OP link and looking at that chart, third column from the right is the SOS for each school. That is what I was referring to, where he has ISU as #12 and Minnesota at #9.
I'm I looking at the wrong thing? Or did you go to a different section of Phil Steele's that he put together specifically for SOS?

Re: CBSSports/Jerry Palm rankings
I believe Mr. Palm has us ranked about 52 spots lower than we should be. I think by the end of the season, ISU will have proven its self to be a top 25 team.* * Curse our difficult schedule. -

Here are the Phil Steele rankings I posted... Phil Steele’s 2012 College Football Strength of Schedule Rankings TRA #13
