CFTV: Coordinators talk Tulsa
Re: CFTV: Coordinators talk Tulsa
Best part of that interview is Mess saying we are going to throw it out to the RB's more. We rarely did it last year and they were open in the flats plenty. We got some guys that can make people miss in space to if we give them the chance

Yea, sure, you would probably even call a wheel route to an RB in OT against Oklahoma State. That was an incredibly good call! The only reason not to run it more is to save it for a moment like that.

I'm not sure what you are saying here.

Giving you a sarcastic compliment. Needed the jimlad. I was trying to say that you are probably the kind of guy who thinks we should even throw to White in OT against Oklahoma State. Oh wait, that was probably the best offensive play call of the season.

Ha. I figured you were going there but I was confused.
No I'm not that guy. That wheel route was a busted defensive play but most fans will look at that play and say "why don't we run that more often." When in fact we do send them out on a wheel route from time to time, but usually teams have someone within ...say 15 yards of the back! : )
I think with our WR's being average, and even if they improve they will still be average by Big 12 standards, we really need to get the ball to our RB's in space. The RB's only caught 30 passes all year between 4 guys. I think we need to be around 50 by the end of the year. It will also cut down on the turnovers if Jatnz will just check down rather than forcing the issue. Win win imo

"A busted defensive play" may just be a nice way of saying that a play really worked well. The fact that we didn't run that play very often may be related to the fact that it worked so well (and/or led to the defensive bust).

Worked this time. Loved Wally not being sure of Cody Green's name. Of course, he knows it. Glad to hear that their safety likes to play up close to the line. We can make good use of the opening for some downfield passes.
