Marching Band

I know they put new microphones in to mic the whole band this year. How did that sound? Also, what did you think of the new pregame sets?

How big is the band this year compared to recent history? I thought it looked significantly smaller but my roommate thought the exact opposite.

It's about 325 this year. About 15 less than last year.

As far as the marching band goes:

Ditch the spats. Those look awful.

As far as pregame goes... i dont know...i dont think most people really got what was going on with the bells set. Also not really liking the removal of a lot of high stepping in pregame.

Bells is ISU's alma mater and is one of my favorite songs the band plays.

As far as Call me maybe.... it's been at the top of the rankings all summer... its going to get played. Beats playing only a bunch of 20 year old music.

Disagree completely...if you are talking about the Alma Mater...it is one of the nicer ones in the country. I was watching the pregame on Cyclones.TV and I loved seeing the bell formation.

...don't know about Call Me Maybe...I'd probably agree with you there but I didn't hear it. "Kids" love playing current hit songs though.

i agree. I think its almost shameful how there is a huge lack of interest in our alma mater song. I think we may be the only big 12 school who doesn't take the singing of our alma mater seriously.
I recall at the pinstripe bowl how respectful Rutgers was when we sang our alma mater (hats off, being quite, etc...), and how shocked they were at the lack of fans paying any form of attention whatsoever.
