Re: Iowa Fan Not Very confident
If they both said that, then Miller and Ed are idiots (idk though, didnt listen) -regardless, wait til Iowa faces Mich State. They may not get a first down.
With that said, I make no predictions with the Iowa/ISU game. It seems to be a coin flip since the 02 season.

I also see alot of youth on their roster, it may pay dividends down the road, but for this game I think they are out gunned. Next year who knows.
But it is pathetic that Jon Miller is on Hawkeye Nation telling all the little hawksters out there that he heard from Ed Podalack that NIU is the toughest Defense Iowa will play ALL YEAR??? NIU??? If that is the case the BIG10 has sunken to a pathetic level of Defense. That is just drinking way too much Kool Aid for me. That would be the equivalent of Chris Williams telling us (IF we barely beat Tulsa), that he heard from John Walters that Tulsa would be the most difficult spread offense we would face this year. I would instantly cry - BS. I don't need to defend Jon, but he never once said that he thought what Ed said was true. Find that quote.

I actually like J Miller, always have. But he reported that Ed Podalack said this too him, he also disclaimered that perhaps Mich State would be better. It doesnt matter, why would you even repeat it? He was giving Ed Podalacks statement validity by not discrediting it, he mentions it as if the opinion might hold water. Which it doesn't. Because after 1 game, you cannot tell me you have a pulse on the best D your team will play that year. Returning starters doesn't matter, Defenses get better or worse over the course of a season, and it was game one.

Cousin Eddie talking out of his black and gold colored ***? No way!

Ed said it but they all think he fell off the wagon.

Re: Iowa Fan Not Very confident
Geez, I wish we had a stretch where we played Minny, PSU, Indiana, Northwestern & Purdue in a stretch a 6 games.

Returning starters from a Defense that gave up 60 points to Toledo last year, none the less. Toledo?
Sounds like Eddy P found the key to the liquor cabinet again.

ISU's weakest 4 game stetch is mostly non-conf Tulsa, IU, WIL & TTU. The last 8 games is litered with 6 ranked teams.

Sounds like Eddy P found the key to the liquor cabinet again. To be fair the NIU defense played much better the last 5 games of the season. Holding Ohio and Arkansas State to 20 points each is a pretty good accomplishment for most defenses.

Re: Iowa Fan Not Very confident
I don't think any Cyclone fan should be writing in a W for Saturday. It's a rivalry...anything can happen. Just look at last year, nobody (not even Cyclone fans) thought we would win after nearly losing to UNI. Same thing this year except Iowa almost lost to NIU. Last year was one of the best (if not the best) games in the rivalry and I wouldn't be surprised to see this year be just as good or maybe better than last year. Go Cyclones!
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -

I learned my lesson after 2005 to not take any game in this series for granted. You can point to 2005, 2007, and 2011 for ISU as examples where ISU struggled the week before and won and 2009 where Iowa struggled the week before and won. Because the game is generally close it usually comes down to turnovers and you can't really predict those.

Re: Iowa Fan Not Very confident
As a lifelong Cyclone fan I only had one "W" penciled in for this year before the season began. Every other game is a tossup. ISU could be a better team than Iowa at every level and still lose this game. Its about emotion, drive, the desire to win and how the football bounces in different situations. I'm not saying that ISU is better than Iowa (at least in football.) The more that everyone expects ISU to lose, the better I like our chances.

Re: Iowa Fan Not Very confident
I knew the second Iowa squeaked out the victory Saturday that Hawk fans would start pumping up Northern Illinois. You barely beat a MAC team, deal with it
