To be fair the NIU defense played much better the last 5 games of the season. Holding Ohio and Arkansas State to 20 points each is a pretty good accomplishment for most defenses.
Iowa is bad this year. Plain and simple... But that doesnt mean ISU will beat them on saturday. You just never know with rivalry's and college football in general.
Hard work beats talent, When talent doesnt work hard.
I've made several posts on the Rivals board stating I think the Hawks are going to lose by 10 so I'm not too confident. I'm hopeful Vandenburg plays much better this week being the game is at home but I don't see a lot of talent on the roster at this point. I do think things will get better with the younger blood on the staff but it will take a couple years to really get going.
I knew the second Iowa squeaked out the victory Saturday that Hawk fans would start pumping up Northern Illinois. You barely beat a MAC team, deal with it
I think most hawk fans were pumping up NIU before the game too. With that said, I'm not sure either side gets much from bragging and crap talking before this game. Seems the "favorite" has a history of losing this game.
Why cannot people understand that when you have a top 5 rated schedule in diffulty and you win ONLY 6 or 7 wins you are not mediolcre. When you win 6 or 7 wins against a #70 schedule, that is mediocre. Is the concept of weighted schedules really that far above peoples' heads? Winning 6 or 7 games against a top 5 schedule is really pretty damn good.

Who are you addressing? I think most people understand differences in SOS. But don't expect anybody to look at a 6-6 record the same as an 8-4, regardless of SOS. Ever. Just not gonna happen.

It is called rationalizing.
You have to recognize that the self worth of the majority of Iowa fans is directly correlated to the success or failure of their favorite team. They want to feel special, so they need to deny reality to achieve that. The poor little fellas don't have much, so let them hold on to their delusions of grandeur.

Well, it was their superbowl and all. NIU could go 1-11 and they would have been happy if they could have won that first one.
Iowa should have lost to a 1AA team a couple years ago and they ended up going to a BCS bowl.
I seriously wouldn't get to crazy about beating them in Kinnick. Their defense is going to be good, especially in the Redzone. We have a first year kicker on the Road in which we have not won the past 5 trips (10 years).
NIU is a good team as is Tulsa....
If our offense scores over 30 and we dont' make a bunch of stupid mistakes we will be fine.

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum....
