    What an awesome weapon he has been for Iowa State. What a luxury to have a freshman step in and take over a position so well. It has been nice to not worry about the punting position for a while.

    Field position is something we haven't really been talking about, but we had a definite advantage there against Tulsa. Other teams will have to move the ball farther than we will in order to score. Congratulations to Kirby, and I look forward to seeing it all year.

    I sat beside Kirby's great aunt about 2 years ago on an airplane. She saw my hat and we started talking about her great nephew who was hoping to play some for the Iowa game. I thought, "Yeah right, you crazy old lady"

    It's also worth noting that he has a completed pass and three rushes on his stat sheet, all of which I believe converted 4th downs.
