Best ISU bar in the metro area (DSM Metro)?

A valuable thread for a new to Des Moines Cyclone! I've had my eye for decent places to grab a meal and a beer with my wife for away games since we're still not planning to shell out for cable.

Has anybody done a Cyclone gameday at either of the Jethro's locations? Good or bad idea? Do you have to get their super early? We went to the Altoona location last week because her grandpa was stopping at Praire Meadows on his way to somewhere else and I thought it seemed like a great place to catch a game, but maybe it gets run over by Hawks on Saturdays.

The Keg Stand is a phenomenal supporter of this website and hosts events like the one we had last night. Ryan is an Iowa State grad, big Cyclone fan and will do whatever he can to make that place THE Cyclone spot. I'd like to see everybody support him as much as possible. It's a great spot.

I like their food. Especially wings & apps. Haven't had the pizza, but heard it isn't the greatest. Steak night (Mondays, iirc) is a pretty good deal, & tasty.

I believe the food is actually handled by a separate company from inside the bar, not that that makes a difference.

Their chicken strips looked pretty good last night. I thought the pizza was average but the slice I had last night was a little cool.

I thought they also had a pretty good selection of beers on tab or there was more than what I was expecting.

I went to Front Row once during a hawk game (on a whim with hawk friends didnt plan it) wearing a Cyclone shirt and Michigan hat (family coaches there). There was a bunch of 70+ year olds that tried to physically throw me out. I wouldnt go there.

No, he was thinking of When Pigs Fly BBQ. It was on 86th St in Urbandale. Has since closed.

Sounds great if I wasnt so far away, but he might get more business with a website.
