Sorry but I dont feel like searching through piles of post game celebrations so....
My questions are
1. What the hell was wrong with the right side of the o-line in the 2nd half. We ran 3 right side runs in a row and got loses each time. I noticed that the team was continually weak on the right side! what happened?
2. Ok let me say I was happy with the run stoppage!!! But will we see some sacks? I know we hit JVB at least 4 times but we never got a sack and there were several times they had all day.
I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally....

1. I think some of it had to do with tendencies and Iowa playing those aggressively.
2. Sacks aren't end all, be all. We still generated some good pressure at times. What concerned me most was the apparent need to blitz Knott or Klein when their strong suit is dropping into coverage and taking away the easy passes.
I was happy listening to the game on the radio how often D-line guys were getting mentioned making tackles, including a few for loss. O-line was good on pass protect but not as much on run blocking or against blitzes. Plenty of room for improvement.
I think our D-line has certainly made positive strides but I would like to see more pressure and more sacks. I love our rotation system as it keeps the lads fresh and obviously hungry because they want to show who's the best.
But like I said we have made progress so perhaps the rest will come in the near future.
I completely agree with what has been said. Our pass protect seems good, or equal side to side and this is (from what I understand) one of the harder aspects of the o-line game, I hope our run block really gets better.
I was as I said happy with our Dline rotation and with its ability to get stops but penetration still sucks. What worries me with the Dline (though it looks tougher and BIGGER than the past years) is when we play hurry up spread teams that dont allow us to rotate.
By the way did anyone see CPR tebow?

Regarding #1, from my untrained eye, our blocking schemes are pretty complicated. We don't often just have our lineman block the guy in front of them. We slip guys into the 2nd level, leave DLs unblocked, and pull other guys. It results in a lot of 10 yd gains, but a lot of negative plays. Iowa seemed to figure it out, and we didn't adjust back. I'm sure that the coaching staff will review the film and figure out how to counter the looks Iowa was giving them and adjust so future teams don't use them as effectively, but they weren't able to during the game.
