Enough about Iowa, What about Western Illinois?

Know absolutely nothing about them - first game Iowa State is favored in this year? Should we expect Jared Barnett to get some reps? Assume its only on Cyclones.TV? I know we are supposed to celebrate for 24 hours and all, but ready to get on with it.

I think that's a safe bet. We may even see Richardson take some snaps as well.

Just posted this in the UNI/Iowa thread, but it fits better here:

Western Illinois also played a D-II school in University of Indianapolis. And they only won 27-17 while being outgained 362-321. They also barely beat Butler in the first game. In the two games combined, the Leathernecks have ran the ball 96 times while attempting 42 passes. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a shutout next week. WIU is not good.

That is good info. The only thing that I know about the team Is that they are located in western Illinois.

Are they in a conference?

Do they have a mascot or can we make one up for them?

We need to celebrate the win tonight, and focus on Western Illinois tomorrow. We SHOULD easily beat them, but we can't overlook them.

They are in the same conference as UNI and they are the "Leathernecks".

Well, they're 2-0 anyway. Good opportunity to tighten things up and hopefully let some subs hit the field too. I'd love to see Nealy and Standard hit the field.

when was the last time we played someone that you would expect to beat by 4+ touchdowns? I like this game at this juncture. Build more depth, get healthy for Big 12 play.

I'm a grad student at WIU. We better manhandle this team. They are not good at any facet of the game, the kicker might be the best player. They shouldn't cross the 50 against our D if we play like we did today. They beat Indianapolis a D-II team that only won 1 game last year. This team will be lucky to win a game in the MVC. As far as i've seen they only have one solid O-lineman. New starting QB, lost 2 senior starters on D.

I didn't go to the game today due the fact it was going on during ISU beating the hoks, but this game should be a laugher after the first quarter.

Also, they are located in Quincy, Ill.

They are not from Quincy, IL. They are located in Macomb, IL. Lots of Iowa people go to school there because they offer an in-state tuition for many of the eastern counties along the Mississippi river.

They pride themselves on being the only non-military school with a military mascot. I guess leatherneck is another name for a marine. That's about all their athletics programs have going for them.
