U of I attempts new slap in the face

So the one I kept hearing all weekend (from hawk fans) is how UNI is now the best football team in the state. Can't help but feel that this is supposed to be a thinly veiled attempt to try and knock us down a few pegs...... it will never be substantiated, because we won't play them this year. I guess that makes the hawks the worst team in the state, but we already knew that. So either the hawks can beat UNI, prove themselves wrong, and put us at the top by default. Or loose to UNI, prove they(the hawks) are the worst team in the state, and NOT prove that UNI is the best team in the state. Way to paint yourselves into a corner!

I have no doubt that if UNI wins this weekend by more than 3 points, we will see and hear Hawks everywhere claiming UNI is the best in the state. They will do anything to try to knock down ISU.

Yeah hearing this too. They just refuse to accept reality.

I wonder how much of their little brother mantra is derived because they will never be an elite program like upper level big 10 schools do they focus on deriding their in state rival. So essentially they are little brother to Michigan and osu.

Who cares? We went to Iowa City and got what we needed. Could care less about comparing football teams until they come to Ames next year.

Heard this several times as well. One guy at our tailgate kept saying no B1G team goes into Madison and does that. I would then remind him that Wisconsin just lost to the prestigious Oregon State. Didn't matter. UNI is still the best team in the state.

You are exactly right. Any college football fan has seen this sort of thin 1000-times: "proud team is upset and pummels the next week's opponent." It's going to be ugly. Big plays, pick sixes, injured UNI players. Rout.

I dont care what they say. Would love for them to try and argue that UNI is the best in the state, means they have accepted how bad they are. Let them be bitter. Let it stew.
